Thought I'd make a thread for myself, Druid and others to shake our heads at with the torrent of news coming out of our industry.

Todays eye catcher -
Seer Construction Ltd, based in Brecon in Powys, has had its licence to operate commercial vehicles revoked after using agricultural tractors as heavy goods vehicles (HGV).
Government inspectors discovered Seer Construction using agricultural tractors illegally to carry construction waste materials to landfill. Both the John Deere tractor and the laden trailer that it was towing were in Seer Construction livery.

aye there's another one running around round here, liveried up, doing road works .. not going to mention names on here ... but they need their collars feeling too

Plus the plethora of traccies with diggers on trailers and dump trailers shifting spoil from sites ... three in the village and a 12 house site there, being serviced by one of 'em

Im in the south east where the police dont seem very clued up on tractors so it seems almost compulsory to have a tractor for groundworks
Must be over a dozen within 5 miles miles also recycling companys running them and one company with a fleet of fastraks just for moving horse muck from stables also tree surgeons on it to
Majour roadworks on a watermain replacement had a tractor serving it which was quite obviously used in ag aswell

over three months now since they were supposed to be having a blitz/crackdown/whatever .... and not a lot appears to have happened to panic the traccy brigade

I was in france recently and was amazed that every small builder seemed to have a lorry hudreds of tippers with a hiab on and either a little ifor type plant trailer or the ability to run a full drawbar trailer
Even the farmers had lorrys
It was the same when i lived in New Zealand
Not new by anymeans but more than good enough to drive to and from site once a day so surely the government should ask why does our legislation divert people from the safest way of doing things and encourage tractors and badly overloaded transits
Surely there should be something where o licence and driving hours dont apply if you are driving les than say 8hrs especially as the drivers hours are so difficult to abide by if lorry driving is only a small part of your job so many little things they can catch you out on

because this country does everything it can to keep the masses down,nothing is made easy for people to get on and make something of themselves.ireland seems to let you get on different mind set altogether

££££s in fines, plus keep the rule makers/enforcers in a job and as Mart says above .... they want to keep the downtrodden right where they are
