I’d say the ‘right’ watch’s are even harder to get hold of, but they have taken a hit recently, maybe not in the silly big high end but the more high street (but you still can’t actually go into a shop and buy them!)

I have never bothered with watches but they seem to go hand in hand with the certain new types of classic car owners, I am old school and hate the way that the classic car market has gone, It has put perfectly affordable cars out of the reach of the real enthusiasts due to the greed of a few people and dealers that have jumped on the band wagon, I have probably forgotten more than most of these twats will ever know when it comes to 911's I got my first one back in 1983 so it's my 40th year anniversary with 911's this year. They wrecked the market back in the early nineties and it crashed and burnt alot of people mainly the greedy ones but many have now forgotten this ever happened, They buy a car put it into storage which is about the worst thing that you can do, Then they get it back out and have to have it recomissioned before they can use it, We have a few car storage places around here and they are all full up and putting people onto their waiting list, I just hope that they all catch a serious cold at some point!

I think it’s about to happen tbh.
My dad had a garage and dealt in second hand Porsche/Ferrari/Mercs etc. They made mega-money through the 80s when everything was going bananas (similar to the last few years…) but ended up writing down £400k on a handful of cars in stock when it all crashed as the values fell off a cliff.
I think that’s about to happen again I’m afraid.

I am not sure it will crash this time, I am registered with most of the auction houses and have been watching the prices, Certain cars are holding there money some are still making more than they should and some are not making as much so it is a difficult one to work out, I know one thing the auction houses are still getting their 7-10% plus additional % for online bidders.

This time there is the whole ICE ban looming which will potentially help keep the value of ‘proper’ cars with big engines high.

The 1190 Adventures are mega and pretty good value now - I keep thinking about an R. Not much between them and the 1290 in real term performance IME (they are all bloody fast!).
I’ve got a 990 Adventure R and will never sell it. Hard to find good ones now, they are great off road and crash well!
I wish I still had my 990 adv, unfortunately it paid the vat on my E10.
I'm not normally a fan of the retro remakes but I do like the new z900sp.
I'm looking forward to getting this ratty 640 enduro back together. I got the head and crank back last week, now I'm just waiting for a local engineer to make me a crankshaft nut (m16x1.25 lefthand thread).

Apologies to non bike fans i know this is a plant forum but :)
I had a single seat 990 SDR before the 1290 and it was lovely, plenty of poke for the roads and every bit as engaging as the 1290 even though the power was way down in comparison.
Nice to be able to wring somethings neck a bit and you can't hardly do that to the 1290.
Quite fancy a classic but they are generally a bit shite in reality, mate had a few bikes mainly trials and I bought them when he went back to u.k, among them was a gpz900r and honestly it was horrible in every way so it quickly went as opposed to went quickly.
Yam TZ250 below is the best bike I ever rode ...another level and a privilege to have raced one.

Some other random shite - the Indian and other belonged to a guy we met down south of France when doing a trial

I think if I bought a classic it would be the opposite end of the spectrum ...1290 is a great touring bike - It would be something smokey like i proddy raced , maybeKR1S or RGV if not ns400 is nice.

Haven’t had a road bike in about 15 years, realised it was getting silly when I thought the triumph Daytona 675 I’d bought was disappointing when it flattened out at about 160. I’d bought it to replace a very quick gsxr 750 but wanted something with a bit more character. When I felt the 675 was slow I thought it’s time to give up or I’d end up dead.
Actually took a really nice ccm supermoto thing in part ex which was really fun but totally useless at anything other than hoisting the front wheel in the air at an alarming rate, did 50 flat out if you could handle the vibes but I imagine the dinner plate sized sprocket had sone thing to do with it.
Bought a little beta techno trial last year for knocking about on farm but turns out fat blokes in their forties aren’t the perfect fit…bloody hard work!

If I had a clean enough space to store one I’d quite like one of the new ccm cafe racer types, rag the tits off it and nobody gets killed type of fun and drop dead gorgeous looks and sound.

I’m amazed how many of you lot are still riding, turning from self employed to being more of a business I felt very vulnerable riding…knowing if I went tits up, the farm, business and other people’s livelihoods might too.

Yeah its a consideration but on the road i think its a matter of having fun in the right places and riding like everyone is trying to kill you - that's the thing about Trials, its great fun and technically very challenging whilst being fairly safe (depending on your level) and brilliant for fitness. I have ridden with and watched blokes in their 60's who can still hop around and do things that are damn impressive.
Tough choice but if I had to give up one then at the moment it would be the road bikes.

Always wanted a heavy bike, however after the experience with mopeds from ege 16 to 18 I decided a big bike would result in one of two scenarios
number 1 i would lose my license
number 2 I would end up 6 feet under
These Days a moped is limited to 2.1/2 hp
50ccm and 45 Kmh back then it was the same except 50 Kmh
My moped was Yamaha DT (50ccm) officially,
In reality 80ccm 24 HP, top speed 140 Kmh

If I were to get a heavy bike today, it would be something like these here
The owner of the V8 said it had some place between 300 and 400 hp
I'm not sure that is true or not,
It definitely sound like it could have it 🙄🤣

was how I used to be about skiing ...... always wanted to give it a go, but couldn't afford to get hurt, for a long time ... once I had a few employees that'd be able to keep it alight if I broke a leg/arm, I went two or three times a year, once I learnt and 'got the bug' .... given the choice of skis or the bikes, it'd've been skis every time. :giggle: ....... but due to the lack of venues locally, the bikes won out most of the time :)(y)
