I have both and I’d have to agree.

My opinion probably shouldn’t count for much though as the iDig hasn’t come out of the box yet!

On a footings or civils job I can see how the iDig would be more useful than a tilty.
yeah one or 2 jobs the idig wins but if it was about which tech you bin off if one had to go then it cant be close surely 🤷‍♂️ unless machine size changes things, but even then im really suprised.

Well yeah if he’d of got a 6tonner he wouldn’t need a 2.5ton or a 4cx 😂😂😂😂😘
Like you say I find my 6ton with tilty does the work a 2.5 can do (so long as the access is 2m wide) and doesn’t get stuck/make the mess that a backhoe does, may take afew hours more to bulk out some jobs but hey who’s counting

🤣 as you know I did try to convince him 6t tilty is the way ;) but the old transport thing raised its ugly head again, while i wasnt ever a proper 3cx op i did spend quite a while on and off them and i just cant imagine trying to make one work for my jobs, dont have the space or want the mess.
anyhow how come we arrived back here when it started as an idig thing 🤷‍♂️

@Brendan iDig 2D has been absolutely spot on for me for the last 6 years, there must be something out in your settings? When using the slope feature, I have made the mistake of having the slope going the wrong direction before, I've also put the slope angle in as a percentage not a degree! All of that will throw the machine wildly off course even if you are only using it by benching off an existing part of the dig rather than setting it to the laser.
Going back to basics, if you have it on some relatively level ground and hold the bucket on a fixed point. Zero it and see if it still reads zero in any other position you put the boom. If its out, then something is wrong with the setup.
I honestly wouldn't be without my system now - I'd have it over a tiltrotator any day.
Worked out the percentage and double checked against a gradient conversion chart, selected slope inclining to machine and it's miles out.
At ground level the tape function is correct for the 1m start to finish point and for 1m from ground to bottom of bucket edge, it's just miles out everywhere else.
I want to update the firmware and then do a third install
I'm glad I bought it used, as if I had paid full price and still had these issues would be even more annoyed.

Did the bucket set up as vertical from bucket tip to centre of dipper to hitch pin.
I'm going to have a look at the measurements and double check all pin centres, but as it stands it's not much use for anything other than getting somewhere within 50mm or so then having to manually check with the laser receiver.
It must be an error on my part in the setup, but I've done two setups, although for the last few days it's 50/50 when it starts up that it says sensors have moved, even if the digger is switched off and hasn't been moved from the day before
