thats the tripod level using a boat level at a distance of around 55m with receiver set to 0.5 accuracy,the slight difference could due to the tabs on bottom of laser being spaced wider than the top of tripod but either way within 5mm at that distance

Left on my own today so have the laser set as level as don't have a remote for it so pain in the behind to set it to a grade, as you either need a second person or the remote.
I'm working to 1:70 which is roughly 14mm a meter and digital display works +/- 50mm

They have to be matching planes or it won't work

above my pay grade - only ever used a level without grade set-ability ... but as above - looks to be there or there abouts with it set level :unsure:

Not using the laser with the idig got it set for checking pipe as can't get a pipe laser in and the idig is 40mm out so set idig to the slope percentage and where it should be around 42mm it's 40mm above that 42mm.
I've checked that it's got the correct bucket selected as that seems to be a common error.
It's annoying as constantly having to check against the laser so may as well not bother with idig, beside getting down somewhere near and then having to keep jumping out to check.
Will have a look at some vids and see if I'm doing or selecting something wrong, it could be user error but it's been getting the better of me today

So far the order of option selecting is having to set machines angle, enter grade percentage and then set bucket at start datum (top of pipe) plus 200mm. Then I dig to the screen/led get it to zero, leave a little mark in the trench where zero is, track back a bit re bench off that mark as 0mm and dig the remaining metre or so to get the 3m pipe.
On the screen everything is zero or within 10mm. Get out of the machine and when I check with the laser it's miles out, to the point of having to redig part of the trench

Not using the laser set to a grade, it's set level and not being used with the idig, just been using the digs single slope option.
I'm using the laser to make sure the pipe is going in at the correct depth/fall and it's set level as can't set a slope on it on my own, it requires manually having to press up or down and having the receiver at the other end so need a second pair of hands.

So I have the laser set level and checking bedding/pipe at 1m, 2m and 3m for correct depths.
Could probably save my self some agro by taping 14mm of spacers to the level but the pipes are not the straightest and doesn't really work for the bedding, so finding it easier to check as I am

Your machine is not calibrated correctly
The only option I think it could be is the measurements for the dipper combo sensor, do you know where is the exact point on the sensor that the the measurements it wants from center of boom/dipper pin to that sensor and for the offset from the centre line of boom/dipper pin and bucket pin.

When I was setting it up, I used my laser level and had the receiver set to .5mm for the two parts where you move the arm and tell it when it's on the laser line at the two different heights, the 8026 is in the setup for center of digger to boom pin centre

I checked it before I left against the top of dumper skip to ground which he idig had as 870mm and a physical tape measure had it 875, it's set to fine for accuray

You dont need to measure the combo sensor with the newer software, id say your software is from about 2020.

Also, when digging is your boom of set?

Marginally, only a handful of degrees to get a better look at the line, was thinking if that could be an issue, is there another sensor that can be added to king post for offset

Then that will be your problem, the system reads from the 2d sensor and when offset it gets a bad reading.

There is no extra sensor available for the touch system for offset, the new connect system has the option.

You can still dig with the offset tho by turning off the 2D sensor and effectively digging as a 1D system, this just means that you won't get a good reading when you slew out of the line if the trench.

@Brendan iDig 2D has been absolutely spot on for me for the last 6 years, there must be something out in your settings? When using the slope feature, I have made the mistake of having the slope going the wrong direction before, I've also put the slope angle in as a percentage not a degree! All of that will throw the machine wildly off course even if you are only using it by benching off an existing part of the dig rather than setting it to the laser.
Going back to basics, if you have it on some relatively level ground and hold the bucket on a fixed point. Zero it and see if it still reads zero in any other position you put the boom. If its out, then something is wrong with the setup.
I honestly wouldn't be without my system now - I'd have it over a tiltrotator any day.

wow @Gunners as you know I have tilty and idig and its night and day between the 2 when it comes to time saved/reduced ground damage, nearly zero handwork, reduced machine wear,fuel saved,get away with a machine that would of been too big otherwise sometimes.... I mean between the 2 its not even close for me !

I have both and I’d have to agree.

My opinion probably shouldn’t count for much though as the iDig hasn’t come out of the box yet!

On a footings or civils job I can see how the iDig would be more useful than a tilty.
