I'm off on a tangent here but......It's f****ng disgraceful that a UK industry that made such efforts and aimed to be as efficient as possible has gone to the wolves In the interest of green virtue signalling whilst we import lower grade black stuff from elsewhere in the world.![]()
Redcar steelworks are but a stones throw from me.
When it was on its knees they said if the ship docked in the tees bay, came in we were saved if it left they didn't have the money to pay for the coal and it was job over.
The ship turned round and left.
Anyway my point is this, the coal was from Brazil.
How on the wholy fishing cabbage patch is it cheaper to dig coal out the ground in Brazil, ship it to the port, stick it in a ship and sail it thousands of miles to Redcar......
When 50 miles up the road we have banks mining in Northumberland and Newcastle?
It must be possible to dig it out the ground and run it 50 miles down the road in a freight train surely.
Definitely a case of the tail wagging the dog AGAIN
