Heritage Crime
We are currently investigating Thefts from several locations of a large number of stones from walls that line the roads at Anglezarke and Rivington.

Some of these walls date from before the reservoir was built meaning they are over 200 years old.

Not only are these walls part of the Heritage of the area but the walls play a vital part in the area in keeping the embankments back and preventing vehicles leaving the carriageway in an accident.

The damage so far is currently upwards of £30,000. The offenders of this crime will have taken a significant amount of time to move the stones due to the weight and the amount taken.

If anyone has any information on the Theft please contact PC 620 Gallagher on [email protected]

We request that people remain vigilant in the area and report any suspicious activity to the Police.

was a bloke here a couple of years ago going up on the hills with a traccy and trailer, robbing walls for stone - everyone knew he was doing it, but nothing came of it -- incomer doing work to his 'new' property -- walls'd been there hundreds of years

Folks have been robbing stone for thousands of years.... Egyptians/Romans/Saxons etc etc. Always been preferable to pinch some worked stone rather than dig it out the ground. However someone pinching stone walls in this day and age needs their fingers breaking.

Well if it meant a direct flight and dropped off in an alley behind the barracks ...and a brief meeting with a few of the lads and the odd baseball bat and a short swim in the canal then maybe ...
Apart from that the news he's staying in supermax should be headlines. Best bit of news all day

The priest sighed in frustration and said: “You’re very tight-lipped, and I admire that. But you’ve sinned and have to atone. You cannot be an altar boy now for four months. Now you go and behave yourself.”

Little Johnny walked back to his pew, and his friend slid over and whispered: “What’d you get?”

He smirked and answered: “Four months vacation and five good leads.”

probably all came from different depots ... rarely keep much stock of anything in any one branch ... I had a couple of those black ones a while ago, delivered with some other stuff, gratis ... came from two different branches - ****ing joke :mad:
