My understanding is that as part of his contract with the BBC he is not allowed to tweet about political issues. He has said he will ignore this and keeps on putting out anti Conservative tweets. He has been warned before but has publically stated he will carry on regardless.
I guess the DG has finally had enough as giving him £1.5m per year of taxpayers money to have him ignore orders is asking for the licence fee review to give the BBC a good kicking.

The trouble with the whole BBC politics thing is the belief that the BBC is anyway impartial or that it's presenters are.

Better to let jumped up wankers air there views and make fools of themselves rather than pretend they have the same views and opinions as you.
