15 years ago some pr*ck in the highways dept. here decided to paint a cycle lane both sides of what was the 'old' A40 from Raglan to Aber., the full length (9 miles), 5 ft wide, leaving about 6 ft of width, at best, to drive on.
The local cycling clubs, etc., used it as a race track, most weekends and the road became a huge 'bone of contention' in the area.
God knows what it all cost and was eventually 'removed' as the road was a nightmare to drive ... now it would be undrive-able with the new 5ft clearance we are now supposed to give 'em when overtaking!!

's about time that cyclists were insured and licensed with some form of proficiency test, as the standards of riding are appalling, with no regard whatsoever for other road users, expect to use the roads that everyone else pays for, for free and cause all sorts of issues to those who do pay for them, which are now getting worse and worse.
if they think they have problems with ICE powered vehicles, wait 'til they'm all leccy and you can't hear them coming. Very few hear ICE vehicles on their tails, as they're 'ear-budded up' and pay no attention to their surroundings anyway. How often do you see a cyclist look behind them, before making a manoeuvre .. let alone a final 'life-saver' glance  ... just expect everyone else to give way and avoid 'tattooing' em onto their grilles

Really valid point about some accountability/insurance for road cycling imho.
Sick of the motorist getting screwed for everything.
Whilst we're at it let's bring tax etc on leccy chariots in line with "proper" cars asap.

A senior citizen drove his brand new Corvette convertible out of the dealership. Taking off down the road, he floored it to 80 mph, enjoying the wind blowing through what little gray hair he had left. Amazing, he thought as he flew down I-94, pushing the pedal even more.
Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw a state trooper behind him, lights flashing and siren blaring. He floored it to 100 mph, then 110, then 120. Suddenly he thought, What am I doing? I'm too old for this, and pulled over to await the trooper's arrival.
Pulling in behind him, the trooper walked up to the Corvette, looked at his watch, and said, "Sir, my shift ends in 30 minutes. Today is Friday. If you can give me a reason for speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go."
The old gentleman paused. Then he said, "Years ago, my wife ran off with a state trooper. I thought you were bringing her back."
"Have a good day, sir," replied the trooper.

It takes your food seven seconds to get from your mouth to your stomach.
One human hair can support 3.1 kilos.
The average man's penis is two times the length of his thumb.
Human thighbones are stronger than concrete.
A woman's heart beats faster than a man's.
There are about one trillion bacteria on each of your feet.
Women blink twice as often as men.
The average person's skin weighs twice as much as the brain.
Your body uses 300 muscles to balance itself when you are standing still.
If saliva cannot dissolve something, you cannot taste it.
Women
will be finished reading this by now.

Men
are still busy checking their thumbs

we have plenty of highly trained (SAS/SBS/Special forces/etc.) who could cheerfully deal with these sorts, quietly, under the radar and put the fear of God into the rest of their mates!!:mad: UK couldn't deal with a decent hot summer/heatwave .. all the bloody snowflake's melt

's a few round here I'd think nothing of mowing down on a dark night and backing over to make sure, if I was confident of getting away with it ... utter scum of society ... contribute nothing but pain, suffering and anguish .. bastards!!
