Most big firms are up to 6 points. The amount of average speed cameras round here it's more a matter of when not if you get points.

And they will simply pay as little as they can like any business, people will want to work for them for the novelty of moving tanks and the like so they can probably getaway with it

I suppose if you are being paid the entire time you are in the truck it’s not too bad money - £336 a day.

15hr duty time. Or 9.5hr driving time. Maybe 12hrs paid time average. Plus night out money which won't be alot. Not alot to be treated like sh*t by most people you meet and spend your nights in the absolute dump of the UK's motorway service network

Look at it the other way through. (Not for low loader work obviously but alot of the tramping)
You drive from one RDC specifically designed to fit an arctic in to another yard specifically designed to fit an arctic. Someone else loads and unloads you and quite often secures the loads. You sit down all day and don't have to talk to members of the public. If the transport manager annoys you to much you put your phone in airplane mode.
You don't need people skills and they often are less discerning about tattoos/ personal hygiene/ criminal convictions.
It obviously suits a lot of people, if it didn't then they would have to pay more.
And tbh the more complicated/ more chance of having to get out the seat then the higher hgv pay is.
Grab drivers are on more than tipper drivers.
Low loaders are on more than containers.
There is a local tarmac firm always advertising for a class 2 driver who will help out on barrows and learn to drive a roller. £200+ a day. Yet can't find anyone. The way hgv drivers carry on on Facebook about wages you would think there would be a qué around the corner.

My lad got into Sainsbury’s, regular part-time, no experience, £12/hr, uniform, free parking. Not earth-shattering but it’ll do while he’s studying. He says it’s easier than coming out with me at weekends.

I’ve got four Albanians working with me at the moment, employed by the contractor I’m helping out at the moment, best blokes if worked with for years, they’re paid good money and earn it, but just want to get the job done, helpful, polite and friendly.
Had an extra machine operator on Friday , English ,late and annoyed me within the first hour, not going to last long !😡

We have loads of Albanians. Great sense of humour but all dodgy as sin. And I think that's just machine drivers. I always get on better with groundworkers that are good machine drivers than out and out machine drivers.
