Yeah but with the oil and faff it's about twice the price max . For an extra tenner knowing it's can sit in the tool for a winter and no hassle etc.
Modern fuel is crap. E5 will still cause issues.

Imo anyway 🤣
I had a free sample off aspen from one of the first APF shows in Ragley Hall, so could be 9/11 years old, never used it and it sat in the tool cabinet until last week and it still ran spot on.(y)
I had been using Stihl motomix but had run out.

E5 has run everything I have for the last 15 + years (and a lot more) without issues - aside from the bloody 028

Aspen isn't sold in Oz, so I'd not tried it until a month ago in europe (didn't like the smell)

My thoughts:
I'm thinking there is an incompatability between the ethanol and your 2-St oil. Worth trying a different brand of oil?
I'm wondering if your 'other' tools might not have a gause filter and the 'stuff' is passing through and not collecting.

's possible .. I use Putoline MX5 in all my 2 strokes .. have for the last 45+ years ... it's a synthetic though so might try a switch to mineral

Ah

But that's eBay...
I pay around 23iirc per 5L.or less for 25L.
which is what I thought it was - ebay prices were a shock!!
's bad enough keeping them all fuelled at E5 prices :(

Same, toying with the idea of a cordless chainsaw too..🤔
I've got a little cordless 12" Ferex (uses the batteries I have a lot of ) and it is excellent for small/quick odds an' ends - surprised how good it is TBH .. but when it comes to lopping anything large up, still think a petrol job is required.
My corded Makita has been a great little saw too, if you have the leccy to run it ;)

I must be lucky I never really get issues from fuel storage. My Husky was sat in the shed for years with petrol in pulled it out and started and ran like it was used yesterday this was 8 years ago only used it a few times since until today was a proper run for it. Not been an issue until I started treating it 'properly' i.e running it until theres no fuel in the system for storage since then been a pain in the arse. Like today ran lovely until i stopped for a break now cutting out at idle the tw@t. Admittedly my Mcchullochs fuel line was ate from petrol being sat in it but everything else has been good. That tree was an absolute knob to get over today had all my wedges and an axe head and still wouldnt go had to cut the hinge in the end top branch just got caught in another tree.

has anyone any experience of echo chainsaws? i bought one at a car boot sale for 20quid its a cs390esx had a decent bar and chain the guy selling it had no info about it at all, it looked in reasonable condition so had a punt on it. only really had to clean it up and sharpen the chain stick fuel and oil in and it started up wasn't running brilliantly the carb needed adjusting but needed a single D tool got one and did a bit of tinkering. and it runs really well. cut some wood up with it and it is streets ahead of my husky 135. got loads of grunt and really revs out clean. best 20quid chance i have ever taken well pleased with it in my toy box.

If your really bored go on arbtalk and ask for suggestions of a fix. Spud might pipe up or one of the others....or it might end up in a bun fight about foot spas. You can never tell.

Are you sure it’s a 355? The 550 is the ‘modern’ auto tune version.
Have you checked the fuel filter inside the petrol tank?
