My local dealer in Norwich sells hitachi and also has their own hire fleet with hitachi machines.id never buy from them as the are competing with me.its just wrong in my opinion

No different to the Case dealer down here they have their own hire fleet with everything from 1.5t to 25t. Don't think its right, but nothing you can do about it

If so they have there own civils as well using so aswell as plant hire they are doing price work with machines from there own plant hire fleet bought from there own dealers

One of the reasons you will rarely see a cat on a hire fleet here. Cat tried it here years ago and under cut there own customers..... it didn't work for them.

This is all about resale and used machines. Nothing else. It gives you 6 month old machines and potentially 6 months hire. You couldn't do it with all brands but you can nearly sell a Hitachi a year on for not much less than you pay for it.

assuming it hasn't had agency seat fillers in it, who've beaten the crap out of it for six months Ross ... in good nick, I can well believe it ..... 'Tachi have some rep.

Finnings used to own Hewden (before they sold it to some private equity lot who went skint). Seemed to use it to keep the flow of new machines coming. If sales were slow more new stuff appeared in the hire fleet. They didn't go for cheapest hire rates though.

I’d never want an ex hire machine,digger or tractor and I’m a farmer too.these machines are started cold and put to work and run flat out instantly then stopped without being cooled down and just abused.ive mentioned to people about abusing machines but they point to hire on the side of machine and carry on without a care for said machine.worst I seen is a thwaites dumper being jammed in gear without clutch being used.thatscpretty much why multi user hire machines get wrecked.brand new excavators with no paint on counterweight is another that annoys me.i can’t be the only mechanically sympathetic person.allways run my excavator for 3/4 mins at tickover then 5 at half throttle before work and 2/3 mins idle before stopping it.same with my tractors and all other equipment

I'm with you on that one Nick, both diggers, wacker plate, rammer and Stihl saw are all give chance to warm up before use, the amount of men I see start Stihl saws and rev to the limiter from cold, and the hold it on full revs between cuts, brain dead.

I'm a bit rough with the stihly now you mention it. Thought it didnt matter as mich with 2 stroke. Will change that now better late than never eh!
