Heard a lot of good about France. Anywhere else seems sketchy to 're sell. Friends have a place lake garda that's nice but he reckons never be able to sell. I reckon Florida would be wicked but think there property taxes are in % terms. Makes our council tax look cheap.

Yes, brilliant thing, take it anywhere you like. Its tip top, I'm just not sure about the colour.

Main pitfall to watch out for is no wheels 😆

Common sense stuff really.
Get to know the area - spend some time there in winter as well as summer before you buy.
Dont buy something high maintainance that takes up most of your holiday getting tidy when you arrive (common regret I hear)
Some not so obvious.
Buying direct from notaire is cheaper than through an Immobilier (estate agent)
Immobilières fees are not set by government so can vary a lot.
This is a useful link if your not familiar with notaires and immobiliers

If you are buying as a place to let when you aren’t using it, or are buying with a view to spending a lot of time there/ultimately retiring there then fair enough, but if it is just a holiday home for sporadic use then make sure you are totally enamoured with it as you may come to resent it when you only ever go there when you have time off and every time you go it’s a busman’s holiday where you spend the whole time maintaining it...

My folks had a villa in Spain from early 70s to early 2000s we basically spent 10 weeks a year there as kids etc but they sold before the big Spanish property bubble started as they were bored going to the same place and having to maintain it and garden etc.

be great now though if they kept it with mine and sisters kids etc have somewhere to go.

I plan on finding a project France Spain way to not have to spend all the winters in the mud.
