No hobbies as having two boys at 3 and 5 and another baby coming in january I dont have much spare time. But I collect a few model diggers etc.

Damn now I'm jealous!Unfortunately didn't make it to Bedford over the weekend, hear it was a good rally though? Ex Mayor is a beautiful engine and all credit to you. Used to have an Aveling & Porter 8T roller but now play with this

I used to be really into my mountain biking, at it most weekends, travelled abroad to ride etc but since getting the opportunity to do some farming, I now mostly play with old tractors, I have a Massey Ferguson 240 and my mate who farms with me has a David Brown 885 in really nice original condition.
Currently 8 chickens, one Gloucester old spot pig (pregnant with more) and am about to take delivery of 6 highland cattle. Not doing it for profit really, more for good food on my plate and a new challenge. Made hay this year for the first time, bought some kit out of a hedge, fixed it up and with whats in the shed plus some small contracting work I took on, has nearly paid for itself. Much more profitable than groundwork as the kit is so cheap.

My guess is Scimitar, Scorpion's had the 76mm low pressure cannon later replaced by a 30mm Rarden cannon I think.

used to do a fair bit of mountain biking meself ..... but there had to be a minimum of 250ccs between the wheels ..... time trials and enduros mostly, but work used to get in the way, with ever increasing regularity, until I just didn't anymore

...... got passed by two scorpions on the motorway once, tail end of the '70s .... came as a bit of a surprise, as I wasn't hanging about ..... two miles down the road, one is on the hard shoulder with large clouds of smoke issuing forth from its arse end IIRC they had V12 jag engines in 'em, didn't they ??

I think the Scimitar's and some of the other variants at a later date had the petrol Jag engine replaced by a 5.9L Cummins 6BT type engine. I have seen some videos of them at an auction site belching some very black smoke or as they say here 'rolling coal'. lol But if that was a Jag engine I wonder if it was on fire to be belching black smoke like that?

About 20 years ago when I was at Perkins, we built a couple of high powered 1000 series for Alvis to try in Scorps. Don't know if it came to anything, though.

I've dabbled like you are currently, and soon got shot of it. Each to their own though.

Jag straight 6 in this one, makes a lovely noise
The later ones are converted to Diesel and have started to be released but spare gearboxes for the diesel are like rocking horse turd whereas spares for the Petrol are about in good supply.This was the state of it when I bought it.

Ahh right I couldn't recall the name of the 're-gunned' Scorpion. Canada had adopted the turret from the 76mm armed Scorpion in a wheeled vehicle based on the Mowag Piranha series called the 'Cougar' it was intended to be a stop gap measure to train crews to use our Leopard I tanks because the Federal Government didn't buy enough Leopards to replace the worn out Centurion's. They were never to be deployed on oversea's missions and yet they went to places like Bosnia, Kosovo, and Somalia....
