But what about the latest fuel efficient engines! Tier 5! Green beacons? Full cab dumpers only?
The plant will go on for much longer than the "rules" allow them to. Same with the workforce actually now they have decided that industry accreditation on your CSCS card is no longer sufficient to be on site past Dec 2024....
As I lambasted a f****ng idiot the other day with..... Top tier contractors make up a overinflated fraction of the industry compared to the reality of what's going on.
Most of us one man bands have between 2-10 machines of varying types and sizes.... Now every national hire firms yard will service somewhere between 10-200 machines, there are exceptions. But most run of the mill civils projects will have perhaps 10 bits of kit on..... HS2, bypass construction and similar will have a huge amount but they are unusual..... HS2 will be the first large scale infrastructure construction project since the M6 toll.... Perhaps even before that, the M6 toll wasn't anywhere near as big.
And when large scale projects are done outside of the south east.... Well the magic happens and older local plant becomes acceptable under needs must. With a suggestion that because local jobs for local people it's all OK.
Infact even HS2 with it's all encompassing mandate to be super safe and no doubt money being floated to provide only new stuff from the big firms has bent its own rules.....Vinci's scrapers came in from the EU where they do do big projects regularly..... They where old, smokey and ran for a entire season before they "had" to fit eminoxs..... There not new scrapers and are I believe at least 20 years old.
I know much of the initial prep work at HPC was done again, by older kit with local contractors....
The biggest shift coming will be the shift to "green fuel". I suspect we will rapidly see a work around for older fleets.
Specifically regarding dumpers - there are still lots and lots of basic 6t ftds being sold and hired by national firms.... This will continue..... If modernization and 2 year plans should of killed anything it's these death traps..... Yet they still are out in force and volume.
There's even 9 tonners being sold.
