Sadly that will be some sort of chemical substance, the giveaway will be the inside but also the price which is cheap enough
All the hoses etc will have taken a beating

Machines start to look like that pretty quickly up here surrounded by the sea, rust pretty quickly, I greased all the rams on the machines on our site before I left for this shut down looks like they won't be moving again for a while

So I seen the machine today, it’s not as bad as I was expecting, attached some pictures for comments.
it had a service in February last year then got traded in at the end of the year and hasn’t done anything since, all 4tyres are good.
no squeaking from hydraulics, they seem to all have been well greased.

Back left hub seal could be leaking looking at the inside of the wheel (black as f*ck)

At that money.....I wouldn’t walk away.....I would sprint!!!

I have a very rough old dumper......but I have had it 15 years. It can still do a job and it runs, stops and tips. But most of my clients don’t want to pay for it. I don’t know what you want the telehandler for but if you are hoping to get paid for it. You might struggle. Ifit is for kicking around the yard then I think you should be able to find something cheaper that is not as bad as that!!

I ended up buying the machine this afternoon, managed to get a bit of a deal which im happy with.
The machine looks rough but its all mechanically sound, I will get the paintwork tided up and post some pictures.
Paintwork is only cosmetic, as long as the mechanical and hydraulic side of the machine is fine then that all that matters at this stage.

You will struggle to keep the original paint on that era of JCB anyway... ours is shedding in exactly the same spots (Battery Box, Engine Lower etc) to be fair.

Yeah the black especially is terrible on them

I wouldn't worry about the paint. only all the mechanical's and electrics, if they are sound it will do a job.

That's all I need the machine to do, move dirt and lift pallets
Its my first telehandler so it will get me on the ladder at least.
Also worth mentioning that Morris Leslie are giving the machine a full service and a 1 month warranty, i month isnt much but its a little bit piece of mind.
The first month of having the machine i will be moving around 200-250 tonnes of soil to clear a site so that will put it through its paces

Just check that rear hub seal cos the inside of the wheel looks black with oil residue.
