Covid restrictions, on top of Brexit, seems to have brought driver shortages to a head. Not helped by years of telling people they would be stupid to get into driving jobs as self driving was just round the corner.
We have a couple of pallet deliveries a month and three out of the last five have been late. Virtually unheard of until recently, pallet deliveries were incredibly efficient.

Another case of industry's reaping what they sow.
So if reports are true ...artic drivers...working nights and CPC all the s**t etc...on £12 an hour...
Murphy pipeline up the road paying £37 an hour or £60 for weekends...for idiots with Coco pop tickets. Standard of work is appalling 😭

Anyone else figured out why there's a driver shortage?

On the local news this week, some manager at Palletline was moaning that they were losing drivers due to COVID and Brexit. Nothing to do with the s**t wages. Some companies used to advertise directly in Eastern European countries and not even advertise here. Definitely reaping what they sowed.

Company local to me advertising for a Class 2 driver doing multi drops, paying £10/hour.
Don’t all rush at once now 😂

I think DPD van drivers are on about 4 times as much as Hermes. Something like 50p per drop to 2 quid for dpd. Not haulage as such

Would love to do my class 2/1, but only for the odd drive here and there for friends as a change of scenery. Wouldn’t want to work away all week to make less than I do now.

It's hard enough getting stuff delivered up here to Moray as it is, I can see a price hike coming 🥺
