Got a Hatz 1D41S on a roller, just borrowed it to do a job, but it hasn't run for a couple of years, managed to get it started after a struggle, but it goes straight to flat out, no control with the throttle, do these have problems with the governer, when you close the throttle you can feel a bit of spring pressure, but nothing happens, any clues??? cheers peter smith

Mick the fitter will probably be along in a bit.

It’s what I do!
Been sat to long, without the oil being changed, the governor set up has probably got stuck with condensation from the oil turning to rust!

Oil pressure is required on the supra engine, and if it’s not there it can cause a few problems, regular oil changes are good including the little filter!

I am pretty sure it's got oil pressure, with the rocker cover removed, oil is spurting out of the feed when you spin the engine over . Looks like the end cover will have to come off then, will report back, cheers peter smith

got a Hodna diesel on my big pressure washer, had a similar issue from standing, 'cept the rack was stuck in the stop position ... was a right bar steward to sort and only Charlie Hodna would use 5 sided bolt heads to hold it in  ..... took me bloody hours of trial and error to get it all back together in the right position .... no marks at all, other than the witness marks, from where it'd been stuck/seized  and everything rotated as it went back into mesh - was a total bitch

Hello, sorry it's taken so long to get back, I have had a few problems, and my daughter has been involved in a bad road accident.
On stripping the side cover off, there was no condensation inside, on checking the governer linkage, the hardened pin has snapped off the fuel pump rack lever, so basicaly the pump went to where it was happy, which was flat out.
Seems a shame to replace the whole pump just for this lever, as it can be removed, does anyone know where this Bosch part can be purchased, or does anyone have a second hand on lying around. cheers Peter Smith

can you not replace the pin? or is an integral part of the linkage ?

V8D, yes that was my thought as a last resort if it's not available, it is a hardened pin rivited into the mild steel arm. cheers PS

if it's a 'std-ish' dia. can you use a piece of silver steel to replace it .... if it's riveted into the linkage, remove the old one and give a new one a try - nothing to lose ;) ... could even sweat a new one in with a bit of braze

Hello, my son has managed to locate a new one from a fuel injection company in Blyth Northumberland, they had to send to Germany for it, but at £7.20 it seemed a bit cheap, as long as it does the job, will let you know how it goes cheers PS.

Well the part arrived, but the pin is a bit larger diameter than the original, they must have had a few fail, I had to open out the slot in the governor arm for it to fit, but it's gone in OK, and operates smoothly.
When I took the sidecover off, the cam gear came out with it, it has 3 zero timing marks on it, with two on the crank gear, does anyone know which of the 3 is the correct one to use????cheers Peter Smith

Mick, I have managed to get a diagram of the timing gears, the centre zero on the camshaft is the one that lines up with the crank, the other two are for balance shafts at either side of the crank, which this engine does not have, so I will go with that and see what happens. cheers Peter smith

See how you get on
Set the timing up as above, and all OK, just a word of warning, if anyone has the same problem, if you have to replace the lever/pin, you have to strip the pump, remove the springs and clips etc, and lift the pump element/piston out to free the lever, make sure you don't turn the pump element, as it can go in two ways, just lift it up without rotating it, replace the lever, and drop it straight back in, replace the springs and clips, job done. cheers Peter Smith
