... Get a pair of alloy ramps out from the slot on an Ifor Williams flat bed with out swearing profusely despite members of the public being present and completing the task whilst retaining all the skin on the back of your hand.

Any handy tips would be gratefully received, otherwise watch the classifieds as there will be an Ifor flatbed with ramps for sale soon as the whole experience has been the worst of my entire life

I feel your pain.
Gloves....hold the twat clip thing up with one hand slide it out a bit...swear a bit then pull the ramp upwards against the clip as you slide it out. Then repeat ...all the time muttering about what a s**t design it is.
Then scratch head and vow to rip the clips off and make a flap.
Repeat regularly every time forgetting until you next need them

The ones on the LM were bastards and they had to be upside down. My old LM with steel ramps wasn’t much fun either. The set up on the TT2515 is fine , right way up and one hand and EASY every time. Used them today no bother.
Tailgate on the plant trailer or the mesh tailgate on the GD trailers is a whole lot better again.

Yeah I never had too much of a problem with the steel ramps on my old LM. These alloy ones the ruddy latch drops down each rib on the ramp. Tried to turn them upside down but then they slide out on their own....
I have the 1054 plant which is like milk and honey in comparison I would have happily bought the wider one they make to accommodate my new dumper but the little lanes and humpback bridges around here make it a no go, so LM it is. Should have got the Nugent instead of trying to be cheap

I don't know if it works with the alloy ramps, never had them, but with the steel ones I shove an old number plate between the ramp and the dangley cam latch thingy, then pull the ramp out. They come flying out.
That's on LM flatbeds, if it makes any difference

I had a 6ft mesh tailgate ramp for my lm146. Modified the hinges so it was only a 5 minute job, if that, to put on and off. Used it quite a bit before I got my plant trailers. Downsides were it was a big heavy lump at the back of the trailer and it made the whole thing very long when you were parked up with it down on jobs.
Sold it a couple of weeks ago as I hadn't used it for years.

Yeah steel ramps are ok as theyre fairly smooth where the cam runs so asking as you keep the pressure up as you pull the ramp out generally it's not too bad. The ribbed genuine ifor alloy ones are a different story as cam drops down into every rib every couple of inches. Will try something along the lines of the number plate idea though. There is a hole in the cam where you can put a nail or something through to keep it semi pushed in. Still a twat of a job though .

LM have a silly cam that hangs down to stop ramps self ejecting it’s the original design as my 1999 LM had it as well. TT design much better .

You know what that was exactly what I was thinking at the time. Any saving by bringing a slightly bigger dumper has long since been offset by this circus! 2ton dumpers rule!

While I'm at it... It's not just the ramps either . Not loving the drop down prop stands either. Scrabbling around on hands and knees pulling various lynch pins out and then ifor must have been on a cost cutting exercise because they should really stretch to an extra inch of chain attached to said pin so you can actually get the fecker out! I'll leave the moaning about Ifors tye down points for another day though as blood pressure is starting to rise here.
