For once ...was dry this morning till about 5 very nice change had a day up in the hills...now it's lashing it down....again..absolutely lashing it down here AGAIN... floor was actually dry this morning,

first time I went skiing in the late 80,s we arrived to a green Heilingengeist in Austria
.... did get bused to a very nice snow field above Annenheim though

We’re just heading back from Megeve (near Chamonix) - no snow at all low down and the pistes high up were battered. However, it dumped last night and I believe there is more on the way so hopefully things improve for them!Happy New Year. From somewhere that the snow is required!!

i think a bit of maintenance on the kit in the shed for a week ,to wet for any thing here ,can walk on the ground let alone drive on it

If there is no snow up here I will start to believe in global warming!! High enough they snow all year around if you want to ski!!but have you got any ?

was thinking more along the lines of Alp D'Huez or Les Arcs or Trois Vallee ...
can't recall if there's any glacier skiing at Val? .....
great place to ski though
..... was there in '92 a week before the winter olympics ...ski-ed the men's downhill, as the slopes were closing ..
did we ever get a bollocking for that

Wrong country. Austria!!
We are in the Solden valley but are higher up at Obergurgl. Will get some pics today if the promised sun shines!!

I went there with my family as a kid, lovely place! Stayed in the hotel Edelweis and Gurgl (I think it was called), my abiding memory was of a sauna/steam room area full of naked German ladies!…

.. got several others though and that one deffo would not fit a Druid now .... was about 11.5st back then .. still got the Zed though My stepson Josh, loves that pic too .. so much so, he replicated it in Aug. '10 .... we have the pair of them out on a sideboard here

very green Shaun ... haven't been on the white stuff in years .. given the choice between the bike and skiing, would be skis every time ..... used to love it

funny story -- 'bout an hour after that photo was taken we were riding down the main drag into/through Val D'Isere and hit a pot hole (the whole street was like the Somme) ...Cool photo, hope you still have the jacket @V8Druid

well the bungee gave up the ghost and the GF smacked me on the head and shouted ''We just lost something off the back'' ...

are skid lids/crash helmets compulsory wear on the slopes these days Dan.
I always ski-ed in a nice Welsh wool flat cap
(plus hood if it was howling)
