That style of grading beam is very handy for awkard stuff, rather than just large flat areas. I have one, that looks identical, but a different make looking at the plate. Much easier to transport on the trailer with the machine as well. Saves me a lot of hand finishing, which as I get older I appreciate more and more.

You'll always get a bit of oil in the intercooler as the crankcase vapours are recirculated. You can for an oil catch can to lower the amount but pipework to it needs to be the same i.d. or larger than the pipe that is being cut out.

I agree, usually an oily residue on the inside of the pipework but the leak I had left a 2" patch on the floor every time your parked it and got to the point where it was dripping on the exhaust causing it to smoke and to me that's too much oil but we shall see what Nissan says tomorrow. If its left like that I fear it will cause further problems down the line with the DPF etcShould have bought a ranger

Keep us posted how you get on sorting out the Navara
I too have got a nearly new Navara which was a big upgrade from the TD5 Disco
So far no issues and love it. Used for towing various heavy trailers and plant on Ifor trailers
SWMBO said no to keeping the Disco as a reserve. Hope that was not a mistake

One of the guys from Glyn Lloyd (Takeuchi dealer in north wales) had a similar issue I seem to remember. Not sure how it was resolved - I’m sure they would be happy to chat to you about it (real nice family run business - I’m sure it was Chris’s truck that had the issue).
I’m like you in that I’ve got a new Navara and a Defender - I’d take the Nissan pretty much every time tbh, whatever I was doing.

This week we have a shiny new Engcon! Neil from Nasco came out and fitted my new unit, sorted some snags I had on the original install and I think after 3 service call outs and 2 half days of downtime I am finally 100% happy with the setup. That's not to say this one doesn't leak either, I've in fairness only used it for a couple of hours this week and when I parked it up, I noticed it has a very slight weep from one of the hose joins. Monday I'll give it a tighten and hopefully that's the end of that saga for a while.
Note to Engcon - a bit more notice would have been nice, firstly I was starting to think you had forgotten me as I hadn't heard anything and my current non Engcon jacket is looking very tatty and secondly, I'm not always on site with my machine as I slot other smaller jobs around bigger projects. Sunday evening was the first I heard when Neil messaged me asking for the site address, he had known the job was booked in for days before hand - I the customer didn't!
Anyway got the 801 fired up on Thursday and earn't a weeks money for a days work. Bit of trenching and a concrete plinth for a feeder pillar. I'm not trying to show off here, just show prospective owner drivers that might read my thread that there is plenty of money to be earned on the smaller jobs for the right people.
Although remember that builder I worked for who was so keen on the tiltrotator and wanted me to do more work for him - well I'm still waiting for my money 10 weeks later after several promises of payment. He will be getting "the letter" next week so just goes to show it doesn't matter how shiny your machine is - getting paid is all that really counts. And I've known this bloke for 3 years!

Communication is certainly the key to good customer relations. I'm hearing more and more that some folk are dropping the ball on this issue!
Too many fingers in too many pies or someone assuming that someone else has done it? Either way, hopefully someone will take on board your comments.

It’s a competition to see who gets a follow up call on a product after the show! I never seem to get much luck with shows. I can count the number of follow ups I’ve had from the last show I went to, it’s precisely zero.....

Given how expensive it is to have a stand at a show it never ceases to amaze me that it is incredably rare to get a call back after leaving your details.
At Hillhead I gave my details to three different mesh suppliers and only one, Brimmon, whom I have used before, bothered to follow up with a price, so I placed the order with them. Why do people bother with stands if they don't want business from it?
