I started back on July with a hand cramping up and hurting to athe extent I couldn't drive a machine.... When I say couldn't imagine taking a screwdriver and ramming it through your wrist center and out between your fingers......
Phone call to GP, telephone physiotherapist who advised it was muscular and that I could self refer for Physiotherapy which would take up to 18 weeks......
Not being a complete moron I took said issue to a private physio who promptly told me it was likely more serious and that he felt he could likely ease the swelling and possibly get me working again but he couldn't fix it...... Needs MRI to get a clear understanding but suspected scaphoid fracture in his opinion (ex radiographer originally).
After a month and a half of initial GP having still no interest, private MRI centre being unable to see me (due to risk of metal in my eye from occupation, they could of seen me the following week otherwise) my Physio booked a Ultrasound which has identified two potential effusions, one on my radai and one on my scaphoid with a large amount of fluid on the joint..... Advised to have a MRI at minimum.
At this stage I moved GP practice..... In fairness My new GP has been outstanding and supportive but he would appear to be a exception not the norm...
He sorted X rays as that's the NHS system..... They came back clear however a scaphoid injury isn't easy to pick up (hence MRI recommended). They came back he told me he would sort a MRI.... Fantastic.
Couple weeks later we get a letter to go to the fracture clinic at hospital..... Go there waste more time with someone with the communication skills of Mr Blobby who tells me they will send me for a Nerve test as I might have Carpel tunnel

So two different NHS staff have come up with two completely different scenarios whilst two private contractor's both agree
After the Nerve test (end of this month) then I get to see a specialist who then might send me for a MRI.
Long and short I requested my GP refer me for a MRI which he immediately did. That was just over a week ago.
Nuffield have MRI d me this morning for just over £500.... In and out in under a hour.
Now if we took the cost of the X ray..... A GP visit, a Fracture Clinic visit and A nerve test do we think it's less than £500......
System is f***ed..... Bin it .
