I bought a kubota from them years ago. We're fine to deal with. Machine was good. Was warned about them afterwards.
They do alot of buying at auctions and respraying. I would say the warranty is only valid till it leaves the yard but as long as you know that and have a good look at the machine yourself u should be fine

Might as well go to the auction yourself then.

Thing is, we get asked about warranty too nearly every 10 mins. Then we get knocked on price . It’s a fine balance il explain why

when it leaves us, how do we know what your doing to it, what fuel is in it etc etc. We sell across the country and how do we warrant a machine in Scotland etc. I always just tell customers we would work with them but you also have to take ownership of the machine. I suppose because we don’t really buy at auction ( unless desperate ) means we get better stock so we don’t really have to many issues
In our thousands of machine sales we had one guy try to back a machine in finance after 6 months and more recently we had a guy not pay the transport bill because the hitch they wanted fitted to a 3cx ( we offered hill , they wanted Geith) and the fittings were about 6 inches to long) that was apparently our issue . So they wanted genuine JCB metal hoses at our cost. Despite not wanting the jcb hitch as it was 4k … i do my best to look after everybody but there are limits.
I also recall a time where a guy sold a old machine and got a newer one and it diddnt have the power of his old. I found a subby fitter nearby who went out with hydraulic filters but no hydraulic oil and used the customers etc and made us look a right crap outfit . The fitter said he diddnt and the customer said he did. How do we win . Bloody diggers it doesn’t take long with £40 a hour labour out of our control to erode quite a thin margin already

Full sympathise. I couldnt sell used equipment. So many people expect a new machine at second hand prices. And are quick to jump on Facebook if they're not happy.
When I buy a second hand machine I expect wear and tear. However if I bought from a reputable firm I would expect that if it was found that something had been bodged or covered up - before the machinery had reached the dealer - then they would stand good. This is the difference between a good firm and Gleneden and the likes

I know this is a post from a year ago, but just came across it and have experience of Gleneden Plant from 2021 which may be useful to others who come across this. I would never go back again. They were selling loads of fleet transit vans from a couple of companies. From a construction firm and water board although they may have all been ex lease from the same supplier. I needed a newer van and they had loads all 4-5 year old at varying prices. It about 2 hours from me but I went to have a look as I own loads of plant too (dumpers, diggers, etc). Most vans had all had a hard life as you would expect and in various conditions/mileages and kitted out with specific extras. Some had been sprayed. I found one that looked ok, but when I enquired was told it was already reserved. As such I left to mull over another and see if they get any others in. A couple of days later I got a call saying the one I liked was now available afterall.

I paid a deposit and made arrangements to get a lift there to collect the following Saturday with the cash. I was quite clear to please ensure they had both keys, the full service history and the V5 available when I collected, as they were clearly advertising it as having. Obviously missing keys cost me to replace, the service history lets me check the schedules and what has been down recently so can plan from there. When I had viewed, the little Irish fella that runs the place was quite clear that if there was any think I needed doing he's get it sorted for collection. Whilst I didn't read to much into it, I did ask they stick a wheel jack and towing eye in from another transit as it was missing from this one, and see if they can get the rear left doorlock working better as it was a bit sticky.

I got a lift for the 4 hour round trip and went and did a quick reccy with the keys. I found the door still stuck and the wheel jack still missing. I found that only the ignition key on the bunch worked and the extra locks that were fitted and side and rear doors could not be used as the additional keys didn't fit. I asked for the spares to try those and was told they didn't have any spares. Likewise, I asked from the V5 and service history and was told they didn't have them. The Irish fella said he's 'send them in the post' (I think we've all heard that before). I asked why they weren't straight about this in the first place as I would have delayed collection if I had known and how I was supposed to buy a van without the proper keys to the locks. At which point he absolutely blew up, and shouted me out of reception. Loads of comments about how he doesn't care if I buy it or not, and its not his problem etc etc were yelled at me.

Needless to say I left with the cash still in my and genuinely felt thankful I'd clocked the reality of that place before handing over more money. It was a wasted half day and diesel for me and my wife who'd driven me there but it felt like a lucky escape as Id gone with a genuine intent on dong this purchase then looking at some much more expensive plant on which the ramifications could have been far worse.

They have tons of plant and a large spray bay where they respray loads of stuff. This is quite common, but having read other less than positive experiences and experienced the reality when you just query why they hadn't been straight with me in the first place, I think there is clearly leadership issues in the place that I haven't experienced elsewhere ever. It was truly astonishing. I'd never return. They guy did not give a toss and the poor receptionist looked like this was an all too common embarrassing situation. They did return my deposit (the receptionist was very good, no hassle whatsoever) and I actually got almost the exact same spec van about £2k cheaper elsewhere a couple of weeks later, so all in all I was pretty happy. Dodged a bullet springs to mind.

I looked at a micro there about eleven years ago. Didn’t even get to the point of bothering to negotiate, it was a heap of scrap.

With new paint.

Bought a 6t doosan of them a year or 2 ago. Easy to deal with, machine was as I expected for the price I paid and hadn’t been touched up despite needing it in places. I’d hate to be a dealer selling old stuff to people expecting no problems. Surely most stuff with hours on it has or could be coming to problems, it’s the reason most of the machines are in the marketplace. With the shite service you get from manufacturer dealers on brand new stuff at over inflated prices I much prefer the honesty of it’s cheap and you take a chance!

Might as well get it straight from the auction then....

you'd be singing a different tune if the hydraulic pump had blown up as you unloaded it from the lorry and they'd told you to whistle dixie!

Exactly my thought too! I’ll only buy from auction or main dealer if the item has warrenty, otherwise what’s the point in paying a premium? * other than conveniance

No, as I just said I paid a price that I was happy to take a chance on something being very close to dying. If you’re paying £20k for a machine that was £60k 3000 hours ago it’s for a reason and it’s not at a premium. If someone else is happy to spend there days farting about at the auction winning some, losing some, managing all the logistics etc I don’t mind them earning a living.
On an older smaller machine there’s not much a couple of grand can’t sort out. I’d only buy a tractor or loader brand new from the dealer as the bills quickly get in to tens of thousands when they start going wrong.
