It’s what I do!
When the relay gets full of water it does this, when heater plugs are disconnected, the supply to the relay leaks back to earth, I changed the relay that time and all was good, but on opening up the old relay it was full of water, the position it’s mounted in is upside down allowing water to seep in.

if the relay has gone to earth it wouldn't show voltage at the plugs

where are you measuring your drain from anyway .... a n other possibility is your alternator reg or rec.
Between bat neg & neg cable (disconnected).

Mine is right way up.
With ignition off there is no feed to it.

Ok So now todays update.

Went out first thing and-----
All tests came back ok.
No current drain no voltage where it should not be.

Started up fine.

Ran it for a bit & all seemed ok.

Turned off & got on with my planned work.

Noticed I could hear a relay chattering & the fuel pump running.

The ignition key was in off ;position but the charge warning light was glowing, not as much as normal but def on.

Pulled ignition switch out (pain in ass) & it was full of water / corroded.

Managed to work out a few of the wires.

Big black bat +
two reds ignition
two mix colours glow plug timer
That was enough to get it started using a spare used ignition switch.

But cant work out what the thin black is for.
I think it might be the feed to the hour meter.

So now there is no current drain, the ign light comes on in position one as does the glow plug light which goes out after a typical amount of time. I can here pump come on & fuel solenoid pull in. Position two & it cranks & starts. Turns off as it should.

So it seems that I have found the fault BUT will see in the morning if the battery has gone flat again.

Fingers crossed.

Thanks for all your help :)

I hope so, but as its been intermittent you never can be sure till a bit of time has elapsed.

On the upside I already have an ignition switch on it way due this week as I ordered one a while back & did not spot it had a long lead time so bought another on next day del to get a job done.

If it turns out it is the glow plug relay this switch has an intermediate position for glow plugs.
Off- On - Glow- Glow & Start.
