Fuel Prices

My problem comes when I fill up a average amount of kit on site it’s 400L.. cost of a new bulk tank is stupid, so may just get the big one washed out properly and get half the white I usually do to red, same ££ worth in there, so same risk 🤔. I really can’t be bothered with swapping between fuels, once the next 12months agg work is done I’ll be ontop of all my agg maintenance work anyway.
so for the odd days I need to do I’ll just run on white and have a bad nights sleep over the extra £35 it’s cost me 🤣

Bulk tanks in reasonable nick secondhand are not too bad. Especially the larger ones.

There’s been quite a few turning up for sale on marketplace recently - I guess people trying to get rid of them now whilst they still have a bit of value left in them.

I spoke to my fuel supplier who let slip they think red might drop a fair bit…. 🤔
How can it without white dropping also? Both are just the current oil price, the difference between the two is the tax rate. They aren’t Tesco’s, they won’t discount red if they start to see sales dropping!

Only if barrel price is down. Over the last few years red price has been up and down like a yoyo rougly in line with barrel prices fluctuating but forecourts have remained fairly consistent (and they try to tell us the forecourts make nothing off fuel).

Fill up at the petrol station.
The tractor will do 200 plus litres a day on the mulcher but can get itself to a petrol station for refuelling. Nothing else I operate drinks more than 50 litres a day so can either refuel from the tractor or we take the small bowser in the van to site (which can be filled up at the petrol station).
Obviously it’s a different story for those running big machinery, but as far as I can see small businesses running upto 13 tonne machines don’t really need to store white diesel.
(It might be worth less than other kit kept near it, but it’ll make a lot more mess when some robbing sod decides to drill a hole in the tank and takes what they can carry).
can’t wait to see the faces on people at Tesco when I roll up in my 20 tonne duck to fill up and the nozzle won’t reach the filler😳😂😂

A pal of mine runs a few trucks and I buy my fuel from him (easier to get to than tesco in an artic) also I get the bill at the end of the month last month was £117.5 per litre luckily I only used 1,348 litres😳
It’s a good job you are absolutely minted!!!
