couldn't get into the stations here - everyone lined up out of the forecourts - i dont understand, 1 tankful isnt going to make bugger all difference if we run out.
I took mum to airport yesterday, 4hr round trip, helped her right up to as far as I could go but mrs got a message that said mum had tried to get to Marrakech not Manchester luckily they didn't let her on I was out pricing so mrs went to collect her .... thats our tankful gone

No queue here only one on the forecourt....and Abdul the cashier told me it's all because of trump. Going up this week velly much man innit

I don't think the storm is going to pass anytime soon. Certainly not in 400L time!

That can happen in times like this. Opposite in 'cheaper' times. Reason being that the bulk deliveries track the price of oil more closely.

It means he's got an honest local forecourt, who don't put the price up until they get the next delivery. Yes, they do exist, despite popular opinion. The local garage is run by Sri Lankans, hes was a jolly nice chap and didn't put the price up until I'd filled my barrel last time I was there (as the tanker arrived). So even if he's a penny more than the BP I will use him in future.

I don't think the storm is going to pass anytime soon. Certainly not in 400L time!

not sure how fuel duty and the vat on it works but as prices have risen does the duty and vat stay the same or rise as well if so bullshitter burnham is rubbing his hands raking in more in tax that he can waste. government could freeze the duty and vat until something like normality hopefully returns but i dont think there is any chance that happens. diesel near me is getting towards 2quid a litre on some forecourts now.

I have just paid £1.62 per liter for 800 litres. The 1.62 includes dual duty which is a fixed amount of about 55p. Vat at 20% is added to the £1.63.
The government Vat receipts will have gone up.
I have noticed that there are less cars going so fast on the motorway. Fuel conservation mode I guess.

They should bring back red on construction. Wonder what would help uk inflation more that or 10p off fuel duty

We already have a "cut" on fuel duty. They were kind enough to not put it back up to the 2022 rate at the last budget....
5p/l they reduced it back in 2022.
From January 27 it goes up 3p and by March a further 2p/l.

Next week I suspect the average price of diesel on the forecourt will go beyond £2/l and with these duty rate increases I cant see it going below that again now.

Time to put our prices up again boys.

Seen multiple 199.99 over the weekend, non Motorway forecouts! For me it’s convenience having it in the yard rather than running around trying to save 2ppl , driving 10miles out of the way to fill up doesn’t make any sense in fuel burnt or time taken!

1000%. And you get to feel smug in a shortage scenario.

With staff the case is even stronger. “got to go fill the van with diesel” is a timewasters dream.

IIRC duty is fixed per ltr ... VAT is 20% of the total, no matter what

I was sat on the M5 at 80 last night and plenty passing me like I'd stopped... same on the 449DC from the Coldra at Zooport, up to Raglan ... with a 50 limit in places for absolutely zero reason - **** it - no bodies milling about at the side of the road at 20.00 last night - take the limit signs down FFS - I wanted to get home

This is my bugbear, I think lowering the speed is a necessity to protect anyone on or near the roads. But when there's nobody there and the roads clear get the speed reduction removed. Or next time you'll think there's nobody there just can't be bothered to remove the speed signs and you cruise through but turns out they are there.
