Yep I was quietly waiting for it to drop to <60p before placing an order. It got down to 64p and now it's shot back up againHeating oil last week 79.33, 91.84 today, with petrol (10%) at 1.549.
ditto .... down to 400 ltrsYep I was quietly waiting for it to drop to <60p before placing an order. It got down to 64p and now it's shot back up again![]()
Yep same here Gra. We have 4 bars of the 10 on the Watchman gauge on a 1350 tank. And in addition we have one 205 barrel in the yard as a reserve for us and/or the neighbours. Over the years have helped out various neighbours many times when they have run out!ditto .... down to 400 ltrs![]()
ours died years ago ...Yep same here Gra. We have 4 bars of the 10 on the Watchman gauge on a 1350 tank. And in addition we have one 205 barrel in the yard as a reserve for us and/or the neighbours. Over the years have helped out various neighbours many times when they have run out!
So we will need an order this year sometime to see us comfortably through next winter
And related to this, going forward, I am now seriously considering installing some air to air heat pumps. Probably 2 outside units and 6 indoor units. This will be detailed on my members blog![]()
Righto Gra, you need to make a few changes there my friend so you are not relying on heating oil this time of yearours died years ago ...
I have reached the 400 mark on my dipstick on a 1600ltr tank ... probably less ATM as that was a fortnight ago, but only use it for warming the water for a shower this time of year and the washing machine has a hot fill too.
bloody annoying it's leapt up again
cursing not sorting it when I dipped it
better go take another reading in fact ... don't wanna run out completely and cause any issues![]()
we don'r have a tank Dave ...Righto Gra, you need to make a few changes there my friend so you are not relying on heating oil this time of year
In our case, the oil boiler goes OFF in the Spring until the Autumn. Usually, May to October.
Like you we have a large HW tank on an S plan.
The electric immersion heater is set to come on overnight at cheap rate, currently 3.99p/kWHr. And sometimes we give it a boost during the day from the solar when it's sunny.
Get yourself some solar panels - they are now cheap as chips.
And DIY is easy if you have a gander at YouTube or https://diysolarforum.com
And simply ignore the hot fill for yer washing machine. It will sort itself out.
Our Sharon usually looks at the solar generation meter before putting ours on.
Renewables is only part of the solution and it certainly helps![]()
I open this thread and and read this line without checking the title and was completely baffled, why don't you have a tank druid. You have everything else, a centurion would sit nicely as a gate guardian.we don'r have a tank Dave ...
Me too, gutted! It’s supposed to be cheap in July/August ffs!Yep I was quietly waiting for it to drop to <60p before placing an order. It got down to 64p and now it's shot back up again![]()
What you need to do is build a nice big solar array on legs (ie a roof!) and then fill the otherwise-redundant sides in with walls and a door…we don'r have a tank Dave ...
totally reliant on the Grant combi's heat exchanger (which is crap when the heating's not on - takes 10 minutes to get water warm enough for a shower)
we do have a nice south facing bank though, but covered in Pam's plants![]()
LOL .... don't give me ideas ...I open this thread and and read this line without checking the title and was completely baffled, why don't you have a tank druid. You have everything else, a centurion would sit nicely as a gate guardian.
