When Curly Humphreys set up his JET chain he was cheap .... 'cos he bought the dregs from the bottoms of the storage tanks, at the refineries and in those days a bit of crap in the fuel had little or no effect on the 'primitive' engines that burnt it ..... Curly sold up having made his fortune selling tish and I have no idea how the chain operates these days ...... but .... as said red is white with a dye in it ....... I'd want a written guarantee that their supplies are solely petroleum based, before paying over the odds

Thing is though grah i'm not paying over the odds, that is roughly what it's always been above others and I pay it because I can get fuel same day, dropped in small quantities direct into the machines if required.

Just came up in conversation... but makes the 3ppl well worth it!

totally agree Rory .... we've had this conversation and you can't fault the service for a few extra pennies .... if it's a pure petroleum product as well it's win-win

I got rid of our UK Fuels cards - robbing bastardos if you don’t watch them weekly.

No we fill the lorry up, pickups, the lot... f**k the cards.

We've moved to FuelGenie - works at most supermarkets, you’re charged pump prices (which tends to be the cheapest in the area anyway), you can still get Nectar points etc, and you get 1 bill once a month for all cards/vehicles which reduces the amount of fannying around with receipts etc. And basically they give you a month’s credit too (not that that’s particularly relevant - it’s the hassle-factor I use them for).

I have it for the convenience of just having one invoice rather than holding onto receipts. It’s also for the guy that works for me, he lives over an hour away from me so easier to just give him a card. I don’t expect to save much money but I also don’t expect to be charged more than the most expensive pumps in the area.

I only fill van up once maybe twice a month so don’t use much diesel however the fuel card is always cheaper than any of the retail prices.

We use silvey for fuel card, only really use for the truck that doesn't fit in the local petrol station and when working away from home. Seems cheap enough I think it's down under £1 / litre +vat atm

I was told some time ago about bio free red vs white with dye in, depended on the local refinery and the demand for red.
In areas of high red demand the refinery would make normal bio free red, where in low demand areas dye would be added to white.
There was some thing about en numbers as well.
