Fuel Prices

What was the VAT rate back then?
We have the cost of the fuel, the road fuel duty, then VAT on top. Of the road fuel duty, I think it is only about 10% of the duty that is spent on road maintenance. The rest is just gobbled up by the state machine!!
April `12 Gov`s on fuel stats say diesel at 148.04ppl at the same duty and vat rates as today 57.95 and 20%
From here https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/weekly-road-fuel-prices
I use that site as a reference for one job that has a fuel price escalator on.

To be fair the green agenda of electric vehicle sales only in 2030 is utter bs, the technology and infrastructure just isn't there.
Seen that Manchester are on about postponing the new green zone charges as no businesses or the public were able to get electric vehicles either due to lack of availability of new or massively overpriced used vehicles.
When you consider all the mining and a lack of recycling at the end of ev life is it really any greener

I wouldn't bother.

A major part of the problem is every wanker is buying Kero. Local firm I get my Red off sells Kero and Red, that's it..... normally one tanker, one back up...... this year they have taken delivery of tanker 3 to replace the oldest lorry.

3 tankers on the road, all hauling Kero because every twat is stuffing there tank.

I reckon 4-6 weeks it'll cool down and we will be back to possibly covid prices....
