Europeans can do alot that seems impossible in this country

And yet the Americans seem to want to sue over the slightest thing. Yet another example of how health and safety has gone to far. People go sign blind and don't pay the slightest attention. Road sites are no safer for it.
And talking to streetwork inspectors when they turn up on site they honestly believe that they are making the slightest difference to safety by pulling you up on cone spacing and sign height. And threatening with fines as lives are "in danger". jobsworths

Yes the Americans like to sue over anything but the difference is the sign was there to tell you end of. They also probably don't leave the signs up (at least some of them) for weeks or months after they have finished. There is also a proper deterrent if you don't observe what little signage there is as @Bri963 mentioned.

Yes i think that also come from a higher respect of the people doing the job from every level. The people that make the rules in this country couldn't care less about the average road worker. The tm is supposedly there for the safety of the car drivers and public.

Closure has suddenly been lifted...after an absolute torrent of abuse on Facebook etc😂
Was due until 5am...presume concreted cured early 😂.
Highways now actually responded:
A spokesman for National Highways said the agency will consider making any changes to the current closure and diversion. They added that the complex bridge repairs, which are vital, require the southbound carriageway to be closed.

And yet two lanes suddenly opened ..

When I was about 21 working for Blackwells they sent me on the river wall with Derek Crouchs draglines which all had silent gangermen fitted ,one of the drivers wanted to go up the canteen and use the public phone he said to me do you think you can keep the jib swinging your only haymaking . I had never been in a 22 RB before ,I sat in it and he told me what to do watched me for about 5 mins and of he went about half an hour later my ganger Fred and general foreman Ronnie and Balfor Beattys agent come down and looked around I didnt think they noticed me .When they left Freddie came back and came over wheres the driver I said had to go to the phone with that he said if a driver dont turn up you will be on it so after that went on RBs Smiths and Preistman on that job when ever any of the hired plant drivers didnt turn up .In my younger days I didnt care about nothing or nobody I would probably shite myself thinking about it today :unsure::D
