School holidays started with sun and ended with sun as I remember!

yep ... and went on 'til November usually with frosty sunny mornings

62/63 we opened our kitchen door and the snow was half way up it, but we still had milk delivered and post!

our back door was a wall of snow, above the head height .... our back yard was full of 8ft of snow ... but yes things went on eventually after the initial clear up ... biggest issue was WTF to put it a lot of the time

Last Winter was very cold, clear and dry compared to this one so far, if that's what you mean by hard.
This ones hard too, nowt but rain and wind.
