Electric tracked barrow

Had a electric barrow on hire for about a week now and have to say very impressed. Was all the hire shop had left in yard normally we get the little screaming cormidi’s in. Was wandering if any had had any time on the electric minis? As i said very impressed with this so curious how the electric diggers hold up, the hire shop does have some in yard but we own a tb216 so no reason to hire one in really.

Most important question is how long did it last on a full charge?


Considering they cost double the price of their diesel version can't see many non plant companies taking them up

Did half the battery in a day, can charge around 20% in about 40mins of a 110v box. Yeh the price is definitely a issue, but as i said been very impressed with performance.

I reckon if you use one a lot and charging isn't an issue (ie you're never far from electric) they'd work out cheaper long term. Most of the fuel use with tracked/power barrows is sitting running when getting loaded (even worse with muppets who never knock revs off)

That was my thinking, and reduced servicing. Not sure how long battery would stay good before started loosing charge faster. The one we’ve had on site has only done 30hrs.

My htd5 will easily do a day to 5 litres of fuel could probably squeeze most of a second day especially if off between loads

Weighs an extra 250kg more than the diesel version

Had a look at the specs they offer two versions one with and without, the step adds 40ish kg and probably a fair few quid for the privilege. Also seems to have a top speed of 3kmh Vs the diesels 4kmh

The first one I hired had a step was ok but once there is a couple if ruts just becomes a land anchor

All the ones I've seen with a step the operator looks hunched over. How much muck did you shift in the day? I was told they will do 4 hours continuous.
I really like the idea of electric myself, wouldn't need to wear ear defenders all day.
It's just that £15000 odd

When we used it shifting slabs it did about half the battery in a day. Then had it paired with a slanetrac and shifted 20t of topsoil so running constantly on about 100m round trip and it was doing about 2% battery per trip. Its not run out or got close at any point but if its low we just stick it on charge at tea or first thing in morn. Im not too fussed about a step never really want to be going far enough to need one on these little barrows.

To be fair I tried the jcb 19 electric mini digger and was very impressed tried it side by side with its diesel brethren in the same ground doing the same task and it easily had the same power. Defiantly the way things will go and by the time it’s refined it’ll be hell of a tool. Only downside is there’s no cab
