Electric rebar cutter

We're on a job where we need to cut rebar up to 16mm without making sparks due to there being finished plastic surfaces surrounding it.
Does anyone have any good ideas?

Or know where I could hire one ideally near hull?

Speedy hire have them or I seem to remember @groundworker recommends the hikoki cutter bender.
You can also use bolt croppers.

Recently seen on, the airport the FRC contractor was using a milwaukee cordless bandsaw from speedy to avoid hot works, great for cutting stock, can be difficult if needing to trim institu

Thanks I thought the same about bolt cutters especially as there's a couple of hundred cuts to do

Also the Hilti Rebar Cutter NRC 6-22 and Milwaukee M18FRBC032-00X, for hire will be speedy as they have the deep pockets to buy for hire fleets I'm afraid.

Cuts and bends all on 18v, very handy bit of kit. No idea where you'd hire one from but could be worth buying outright if you do enough reinforcement work.

It won't cut in situ though if that's what you need.

You'd be welcome to try mine but I'm not local!

There's also these manual cutters which are glorified bolt cutters but more hefty, can be bolted down to a lump of timber so you can get your full weight into it.

Looks like a lot more graft but way cheaper

Have you got a lot of 16mm to cut or is that your biggest bar?

Can you not increase the splice to avoid cutting all together? or change the schedule.

Manual benders are create for up to 12mm but after that its still possible just takes a lot more effort, usually involves a scaffold tube as a longer lever and that you have the option of using on a bench on the horizontal.

have seen a few ppl using them on Utube and seem pretty good

Go hire have found me a hilti NRC 6-22 60/wk +the blades at £70 a pop

This is for the in situe cuts of the existing hopefully the bars to tie will come pre cut if they get the bending schedule sorted or can go outside where I can cut them hot

2 battery's and a charger I didn't know there were options for types of battery, I'm not really up on hilti gear the local hilti rep is sorting it so i'd hope so

only thing I have of theirs is a permanent magnet lifter and it's been fine - does what it says on the packet

some of the youtubers I watch have been using their gear and don't seem to have any issues, but no idea what longevity is like

used to have a few Nitto Kohki (what was Hikohki) hand held punches -- were very good, reliable tools

I've a set of fork extensions from them and a set from safety lifting gear there about half as thick and have bent. They do a job but are definitely DIY grade

yeh I've seen those - look like they're made out of tin .. think selectivity is the name of the game with them
