Anyone running one?

There doesn’t seem to be many available yet. I see theres a Bobcat e10e, looks like a great machine. JCB have a 1.9 tone electric machine too.

any idea on the prices these are?

Wow. Wonder how total cost of ownership compares. They shouldn’t need as much servicing, maybe cheaper to run too, not sure.

wonder what they are like in the cold. Range in my EV is nearly halved when it reaches zero degrees.

Anyone using electric diggers?

e.g. JCB 19C-1E I'm doing some research as part of Electic Cities project into the shift toward zero-emission working (and the ups-and-downs of it) I'm trying to get in touch with operators/contractors currently using electric diggers to ask a few questions. I can offer modest cash incentives...

Well due to the way an electric digger works, unfortunately, a lot of the service items are still there to be serviced! Then there is battery replacement to consider a few years down the line... I'd like to try one properly on a job but I don't think unless you are working somewhere like in a basement or indoors where exhaust fumes would be a problem that they are going to save you any money over a traditional machine at this stage.

As far as JCB’s claimed battery life, divide it by three and you’re close.

Even then the ones ran off a genny with an umbilical cord would give better longevity. Neuson have done one for years aswell as others too.

When looking to change my volvo last year dealer said be first in Norfolk to have an electric model.i looked into it and cost was just ridiculous and battery life was said to be 4 hours which would probably be 3 if truth be known.i regularly do 8/9 hours in a day and I don’t want to take a generator with me to some places I go where no electric is available.i don’t think customers would pay extra either,some moan about my current charges.dunno how long a battery would last but I’d imagine a new one would be several thousand and second hand value woukd be poor if battery life was ending.

I'd have told them steady on, don't get ahead of yourself. Having the first non steam driven model in Norfolk was enough of a leap!

Double the cost of the diesel equivalent.
