Dumper transmission whine

I looked at a 3 ton Barford today, It's been about 25 years since I sat on a dumper and that one had rear wheel steer! This was quite a nice machine but in forward and reverse it had quite a load whine and I was wondering is this normal are the gears straight cut or is it just a normal noise to expect with a 4 WD dumper.

The one I tried today was as Barford Sx3000 3ton from around 2005 4WD artic steer all original. It just had awhine in 1st and 2nd same in reverse so i am guessing it is the norm a bit like an old JCB 3C

My money is the center bearing on the box is dieing due to oil passageways blocked/oil starvation. Not a difficult fix if you have a lathe and knowledge.

I may take a punt, I would drain it and give it some fresh oil and see what happens, The engine is good, no smoke at all even on a cold start up.

Thanks for that, I may buy it looking on the tinterweb its probably a Newage gearbox so parts are available but if i drop the old oil and put some fresh in it then see what happens.
I was just looking on EBay and these Newage parts are for sale at the momentiEbay item 255668583130(collection only) in Camborne (any good for JD450) does the train still stop at Camborne on a Wednesday!
