sometimes our stockpile is tipped down road etc and dumper is perfect - and they are expensive to run compared to a simple old dumper.

I got lucky with mine their older machines and only get used in wet months but bought the yanmar c50r for £3.5k off a farmer with brand new tracks and a spare new track out the old autotrader plant section from the actual paper magazine. Only had a oil seal to 1 track motor which was £350 , basically paid for itself within a week doing drains on new rugby pitches in cut and fill clay nothing else go near them
3 ton tracked I’ve had 10 years ex utility company only had 300 hours on it and 1 ton Kubota swivel one only needed new tracks at 180 each so cost of running them has been minimal touch wood. My wheeled thwaites 3 ton swivel developed a problem in 3rd gear after about 300m it locks up in gearbox not looking forward to sorting that out.
my little 1 ton swivel is great with 1.5 ton mini for trenching and drains perfect little combo
I’ve had a price on a yanmar c30r-vt thinking of getting rid 3 older ones and getting new one. £33k plus vat.
see how our work pans out this year some years they sit unused the tracked ones

Apart from the fact that I have absolutely no need for it I can't see any other reason not to buy it

pretty cool for when it snows though take kids to school, are the jcbs any good compared to the Kubota?

got a set on my dumper,think they are 500 wide and never leave a mark on the Ground but will make ground wet when it’s wet if that makes sense.dont sink in at all but traction can be an issue on slopes if very wet.only run them at 7psi too

Thats the thing, haven't found any flotation tyres with a tractor tread in a smaller rim size so it will have to be an implement tyre really which will ineviatbly struggle for traction on steep slippery sections. I have a Swiss "Clic" double wheel system on my quad bike which is excellent, on and off in a matter of seconds. £600 per axle including tyres. Was going to price up for the 3 tonne dumper but suspect it will be too pricey.
There is this place in Ireland that I've dealt with before though, out of stock and not sure what the offset is on the rims...

You can't have it all ways round though there has to be a compromise. For a flotation tyre to do it's job and stay on the top you can't have aggresuve tread which cuts the surface. You do however need a certain level of grip otherwise you go nowhere. The tyres @Furniss is looking at look a good balance to me. When my 6 ton dumper had its racing slicks on it never left a mark, trouble was it spent most it's time on the last job it was on before i put new tyres on sat spinning in 4 little 1/2 inch divots

I have low ground pressure tyres on my norcar with a turf pattern and they have an amazing amount of grip but at the same time leave very little mark. In fact roll out the marks left by my Menzi on low ground pressure tyres that have a standard grip pattern like these https://autoandtrailer.com/product/550-60x22-5-agricultural-wheel-assembly-choice-of-rims. They are also extremely good on sand as they are designed to grip rather than dig in. The only time I’ve had problems was on a steep slope of exposed chalk in the rain, but it was like an ice rink. Dumper style would have been even worse as it was too hard to dig in. I couldn’t even walk up it.

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
very different tool but .... I had to take the turf tyres off the Dane and fit herring bone .... it was undrivable on a cross slope on turfs .... mind of its own
