Drott/dozer hire rates

Ey up. much like everyone else I’ve enough to do really but I do often get bored of being on mainly housing sites all the time. So I’m thinking of buying something a bit more interesting than a digger just for a the odd change of scenery. I know I should get a hobby but unfortunately I only seem to be interested in rusting bits of metal. So I’m thinking about buying a dozer or track shovel. Nothing too big 943/d5 (other brands are availabl) size so it can be moved on a 6 wheeler.

I’m aware that money is made on price work not hire but usually when I price jobs I work out the materials, time it will take at our hire rates then add a profit percentage on top. So what I’d like to know is does anyone have an idea of the sort of rates these type of machines go out at?

Last one round here got sold a few years ago. Not sure if lack of demand or lack of skilled operators.

Doubt you are looking to buy new and shouldn't think there are any second hand in the UK, but case have released the minotaur which seems to be the closest modern thing to the old drotts.

Turn around, and walk away from that Idea.

IMHO we used to shunt the 450A out at £40/hr..... New diesel and inflated wear costs it'd be closer to £80..... big firms will likely be £55-70 for a larger machine.... walk away slowly.

Compact track loader with Laser/GPS system would be the way, but big bucks and same clients.
