I don't think they have any pump at all. They work in conjunction with a big jet vac to extend the pipe for awkward jobs the truck can get near
That would make it very niche then. Just a petrol powered tracked reel then basically. So a dumper base unit with a reel on.. Reel looks like it might be hydraulically operated though.

Yes that's all they are. And yes they will have hydraulic rewind as the better will be way to powerful to manually pull it back. And you need to be on top of the manhole to retract it, hence why you cant just trapes the lorries own hose out.
I have seen some real big ones mounted on wheeled swivel skip dumpers so they could turn the reel and I think they also could lift it or move it forward or something to almost reach over walls and fences.

Our local UU contractor has similar mounted on 1t dumpers. And I've seen one on a tracked frame

Does anyone have a jetter?

I'm thinking it would be handy to have one but wants to be something that can be loaded on the truck as and when rather than a fully kitted out van set up.

Preferably cheap secondhand unit, any suggestions?

They pretty much all come on a skid now. Only a relatively small tank as most have a built in filler hose.
There is a never ending list of optional extras.
Powered reel seems a must. And remote control if you plan to operate singlehandedly.
Anti freeze kit is important aswell.
The nozzles are nearly as expensive as the machine.

I get really excited about buying one occasionally, but there is a local lad who charges the same as we do for himself + Towed jetter + camera so if I cant sort with a rods then I pass the job to him. Makes no sense for me to to invest £ 10-20k in something that inst going to earn me any more than I am getting already.

Whilst it would still stand that you couldn't compete, you can buy a brand new basic jetter for a couple of grand.
The most profitable part of it is the no dig drain repairs and the mechanical milling machines. This would take you up to the 10-20k investment through.

I have a little jetter attachment for my petrol pressure washer. Thats cheap and cheerful (although the washer was over £2K) Does some little jobs for us and fits in back of Dmax. Still looking at buying a camera so at least I can tell customers what there options are rather than guessing.

The no-dig repair work is what I want to get into.

I work for a drainage survey/jetting firm that subs the excavation and repair work out to me. They do the milling in house but also sub out lining and patch lining to someone else. He's always moaning they charge too much for the lining and I should do it for him instead but never got round to looking into it.

It would be ideal to do it as I'm on site anyway and it looks a lot bloody easier way to earn a wage than hand-digging etc.

So in theory I don't need a powerful jetter, just need to flush the pipes through immediately before lining to make sure there's a good bond. Also need a camera to place the liner correctly.

I don't think you would want to risk it not being right when you turn up. A jetter with decent power is no more than something half arsed if you don't get all the optional extras.
You also need the milling machine for some of the no dig repairs. You use it to tidy up the ends or if you want to patch past a connection, you put the patch in place then put the miller down the branch to make a hole in the liner.
