Disco 4 what's the alternative?

I've often been tempted by the idea of importing a Landcruiser or Patrol from Oz. We get bent over with the soft UK spec here.

the spec of UK trucks compared to the yanks is desperate. Its hardly complicated release a RHD truck.

problem is they will (ford for example) price high to make the rangers look good value. Plus they dont really fit in parking spaces

The 2.7 ecoboost f150 is slightly less on emissions than the 3.2 auto wildtrack.

Pickups at the moment don't really fit in parking spaces although the f150 is something like 200mm wider (similiar width the the ranger raptor) although it's also around 600mm longer

on the ford USA site the F150 are 6.7L I dont think the little eco boosts would sell over the pond!!

Eco boost is more popular as better on juice and loads of torque with the turbos. It will outpace the 5.4 v8s

There’s a bit of a noise difference but it’s well accepted now

on the ford USA site the F150 are 6.7L I dont think the little eco boosts would sell over the pond!!

Think it was only last year that they started selling a diesel in the f150 which I'm sure is a 3.0 v6
The super dutys - f250 and bigger I think are available with the 6.7 power stroke diesel lump
Apparently the 2.7 ecoboost is expected to be the most popular choice in the f150.

Nope, to be fair the black one was my first one, its the only one i could find.

With the F150 you have

2.7 + 3.5 plus a v8 5.4 (i think) the rest dont sell.

The f250 / up is a 6.4 diesel but will acheive worse fuel than the petrols

Might have my hand forced on this one, hit a deer the other night with the disco, bumpers had it but the big issue is the airbags went off apparently with it being now almost 9 year old it's common for them to be written off

More than likely will be written off as by the time they factor in transport fees, hire vehicle and garages taking thnle piss with repair prices will more than likely be more than the vehicle is worth

a few pop rivets needed to fix the bumper accessor is looking at it tomorrow, I’m thinking it’ll sort up but who knows what they’ll say.

As far as I know insurance companies only use new parts so probably easily 2k+ for dash and airbags

Unless you really want the payout you’d have been better patching it up with second hand bumper and pattern airbags and not telling the insurance. That’ll be a fault claim on your record and as said, they’ll probably write it off.

It's a nice vehicle to drive, usual mpg for a LR it does cost around £800 each mot for brakes and bushes and the likes

I don't like the idea of claiming insurance but I've already told them and sent pictures of the damage so don't think I can now say I don't want to claim?

you could try it .... if the assessor wants to write it off ...
