For trench ramming maybe but with such little reach on a mini cant see its worth it. For fence posts on the other hand.

I do like the idea of a rammax, engcon could probably program it so you could use the digger sticks to move it!

what are the rammax like for doing wider areas compared to a plate ? They are pretty big lumps from what ive seen.

Comparable to a 800 twin roller ?

Useless for fence posts unfortunately, as are the mini digger peckers with the post cups. A mast mounted weight type knocker is far superior- most posts simple need more of a blow to drive them than a small vibration unit can provide.

It was mustard for filling in an old pond properly- about ten tons of concrete in here. It also worked well on a short steep track yesterday. For long track jobs I'd hire a 1200 roller, but a few of these little awkward jobs and the plate will soon be paid for. I ripped that track, went to the quarry and collected another load of stone, levelled it out and recompacted it in a morning with no sweat at all.

It has made me realise something. @doobin clearly has too much spare cash knocking about, why didn't you just buy a ditching bucket be far cheaper

I did price up a vibration unit the other day for the machine Good idea in theory, but not sure how much use it would be for compaction. The other issue is the smallest model covers from 3-5 ton, whereas I go from 1.2-2.8t. So not for me, I don't think, unless they bring out a smaller one. Asked them if they were considering it and now radio silence

Thing is, it's always the smaller machines in the UK that need the extra power. If I get called to an extension dig with the micro round Havant, I can guarantee it'll be rock hard clay, 1m below existing foundations. Which are usually half a metre below ground level! That's where vibration would be really useful I reckon, and at £2300 a small unit that you could swap between mounting plates would share the cost between three machines.

All in the grading beam mate. I can't grade for toffee unless it's with a beam!

Still struggling to get the hang of grading with the E27. That Hyundai R17 was lovely to grade with, sad to say I don't reckon it will be easily beaten. But we will see, when this E19 with short dipper finally turns up. Supposed to leave the factory on 4th November.

Glad it's not just me. Grading beam makes me look like I know what I'm doing!
