Lisa Kay, secretary of Poplar Tree Landscapes, in Solihull, the west Midlands, said the company is owed £150,000 by Dawnus. This is a result of multiple clearance contracts connected with the high-speed train project HS2, connecting London with Manchester, she continued. The contracts started in October last year but it isn’t clear when they were going to end as they were a big job, with the overall contract being of £500,000.
Mrs Kay said the money has been outstanding for some time, adding they have only received a payment of just over £20,000.
She added: “Luckily, my husband is a very astute businessman but it has put us under a great deal of stress - why wouldn’t you expect to get paid when it is a huge company like that?
“It hasn’t put us at risk, but it has caused a ridiculous amount of stress.”
They now have to wait and see what happens, Mrs Kay said, which they find frustrating. "
