Cutting 600mm ductile iron pipe in situ.

Does anyone have any good solutions for cutting ductile iron pipe in situ. It's 600mm round and at the bottom of a 2m deep hole. Need to make 2 cuts. Bonus points of it's a cold cut.

Two full cuts to install a tee on VJs?

Is this not the realm of an underpressure saddle connection?

Diamond wire saw which is a concrete drilling firm speciality. If its for UU or connected to them they've apparently banned cut off saw i've been told

It's a dirty water transport main that has a leak so need to cut a section out and replace it. I think it's relatively low pressure as fed by 3 enormous submersible pumps.

So is there any reason you can't used a cut off saw or 9" grinder, as presumably gas monitoring with the excavation anyway?

As that looks a relatively new pan am pipe, with the like 5-10mm thick cement resin liner.

I assume your going to be undermining to install the VJ's and drop in a new All Flange section so having to concrete support either side of your cut to begin with plus working room? As the damaged section is too large for a bandseal repair

Then thinking your going to be cutting it 3-4 times, probably a two rough cut's to gain full access and then two neat cuts to ensure right fit for the section AF pipe section and VJs.

Going to be one of those once you start, no going back so what do you reckon to standing water in the pipe... will you need to cut access to drop a pump in to drain standing water or thick a sump and pump in excavation will be sufficient, with maybe a spare on standby?

It's a short section of pipe that has failed between two 35degree bends so a burst clamp wont work.
It's in an awkward place being a corner so was seeing if someone had a solution that would need so much room around it and not have to obtain a new shoring design.
I can use angle grinder or Stihl saw but it requires a hot works permit which is an absolute ball ache to obtain and administer.
I know the Americans use this type of pipe alot more than us and have all sorts of neat tools for cutting it.
As for whatever in the pipe this is a low section so we will have to cut it. Probably using a hole saw on a long extension to keep out the hole. This will allow us to drain to top of pipe level. Then cut a square in the top and drop a sump pump in to empty the section.
Then cut out the offending section, put two flange adapters in and bolt in a new angle.

You could use a wire saw.

But tbh Graham Rush is the man for this and I know he really rates the chainsaws as the water in the pipe doesn't slow them and they cut cold 💪
surprised he never joined here Rory ... he was reasonably prolific on CEF ....

Many a true word spoken in jest butIt could be done. Sorry as mentioned in Druids thread, I’m otherwise indisposed this week. Can you imagine the sweat on the brow of the guy issuing a permit for that though 😂😂😂
