My 12 year old son has just tested positive - the rest of us in the house are all negative on the lateral flow and nobody is in any way ill (other than the boy who has a mild cold). My wife and I are double jabbed and none of us are changing our routines etc in the house (we are all sat together on the sofa as I write this). It’ll be interesting to see how it progresses - my bet is we all get it and nobody dies!!!

I’ve heard of a few folk this past week or so. One has a chest infection now and another has pneumonia. I think it’s inevitable that we’re all going to get it at some point I’m just surprised it’s took this long to affect people I know.

I am in the better not to get it camp at the moment!! Still very fortunate to be able to live where we do and work mainly on my own. I seem to remember that I was bored as most at risk when this all started. Hopefully I just stay at that rather than a casualty.

I have got the cough snot running cold have not had one for couple years and I have tried to keep away from most people but it got me.
Itv and bbc are both trying to make the news for the last 3 nights local and national news have been demanding for masks and working from home for everyone who can, if they get that they will be wanting another bloody lockdown

They been bleating on about masks on the radio today, here (wales) masks still legally needed in shops/public places, yet we have the highest rates in the UK and the highest daily rates since this began, some thing doesn't figure, if masks are the answer wales should be in a better position that england

I'm very surprised I haven't had it yet-as far as I know. My wife works at the local hospital where she is one of the few on her team to not have had the jab (or COVID) - many of the other team members have had covid- one off with long COVID despite having being double jabbed, same lady caught it when it first kicked off last march too.
My daughter is at primary school- we've had many sniffles and sore throats since she went back after summer but still waiting for the one everyone talks about.

So your not an anti vaxer just a wait and see'er. I'm surprised if your wife works in the NHS she hasn't went for it, the chances of picking it up in the hospital I put it as high, and the benefits of the vaccine to lessen the effects of COVID makes it a no brainer for me

Sure, I can see that line of thought. Not sure what age bracket your in. I think the older you are the more you perhaps have to gain from it. I'm 33 and generally look after myself- I felt my chance of dying from it are pretty low (being ill for a few weeks I'd accept). My wife's theory was that she'd spent over a year working in hospital through out it all dealing with patients and their families- she takes precautions and still tests herself twice weekly- something her vaccinated colleagues have become very complacent with. Her experiences with COVID in colleagues and patients and the way testing and results are conducted/recorded makes her pretty sceptical of the efficiency of the vaccines and the severity of COVID in patients who aren't already compromised health wise.

Be interesting if Javid brings in compulsory vaccines for NHS workers. Roughly 1 in 10 NHS are unvaccinated. Doesn't sound alot but that's approx 100,000 NHS workers. Some will have to comply to keeps their jobs understandably- but many won't- are the government in a position I wonder to call those shots when NHS needs all the staff they can get?

My groundworkers missus tested positive on LFT, he tested negative. Went to Exeter for PCR test same results again.
Rules state he must now isolate for 10 days as it's the same household. If he had, had his jabs he wouldn't have to isolate. So he's currently at home on £140.00 and kicking himself for not getting the jab.
Next day i got my first jab

But that's just coercion isn't it? If the government are going make everyone have their jabs using this method they'd bloody well better make sure they know what they're doing. You telling me if 100% of the population had had the jab that it would go away. And if you have a double negative test (vaccinated or not) and you still have to isolate what's the point in testing in the first place. It's a joke
