I get the impression from what I've seen via people I worked with in NZ that they have it far worse with the government control ATM than we do, so God knows what there party line is

I saw she is trying to ban 4x4's and pickups in a country where vast swathes are inaccessible by anything else come winter and still large parts of it require a 4x4 all year round.

Banning pickups in NZ? Good luck! Although I am always amazed at where you can get a HiAce van if you're really trying...

Don't know enough about Coronavirus to really say either way if its some kind of elaborate scheme (although if it is, fair play to the architect - the guys got some vision) but I do think these vaccine passports set a dangerous precedence and whilst I have had the "vaccine" I disagree strongly with pushing it on people in any other way than science and facts.
It is however going to become a fact of life as the world gets more connected, cars not letting you speed, corporations knowing what you buy and when you do it - there's many examples of how seemingly good hearted technology is going to actually constrain what we can do. Now we generally all agree that the law seems like a decent set of rules and it takes quite a lot to get new laws passed for this exact reason. We follow the law because we agree with the principles. But if my car starts not letting me jump a broken temporary traffic light because its red or the technology allows me to be prosecuted for a speeding offence automatically? Dangerous territory or should we not be committing the offence in the first place? Getting away with it doesn't make it right?

I dunno, its a dangerous rabbit hole to go down but like it or not "freedoms" are going to change. Its been happening for centuries, nothing new there. I'm sure the first tax's didn't go down well but people adapt and life moves on. Covid is here forever, cant see it going away anytime soon. Its going to screw some peoples business's over, I foresee that kickstarting a massive recession, inflation will rise significantly. That's more my main concern in the next 12 months, don't know about you guys but we need to survive that first!
