Been reading churchill and start of ww2 they passed a law meaning every person and their possessions can be used for the national good. Understandable in war for survival, not so much in a nonsense scamdemic

They won't get away with it and they know it.... I'd hazard a f****ng good guess that those looking to take loans and go bust won't get off easy though.

I don't get it. The 50k isn't free. Has to be paid back unless they do a means tested reversal and write it off, thereby transferring the debt to taxpayers as a whole. What a shitshow
1 year no payments With zero interest . , so anybody who was a regular hirer got a tidy deal

A customer/friend has a decent-sized company that provides finance to businesses, and is an ex bank manager. Very switched on fella with his finger on the pulse and a lot of industry contacts.
He reckons that the banks (and subsequently the government) are anticipating massive defaulting and associated writing off.
I have also heard of a business getting 2x £50k bounce-back loans as they had two business accounts with different banks...

Too easy to exploit and thats the problem. The genuine/ honest folk will be the ones to pay it back, hence I've applied for and got the second self employed grant even if its just to soften the blow tax wise further down the line.

I got a bounce back loan- but absolutely no way I’m going to spend it until at least a year when we have a better idea of how things are going. I put it in a seperate account and added the total interest I would have to pay. It’s there if the s**t hits the fan. But otherwise is still cheap finance if we’re not all on our arses next year.....

My theory too. Might end up eating some of it for another machine as we are that busy. But under no illusions next year will be rough

All these people who spent their 50k on diggers and stuff over inflated prices will be lost. 2014 U17’s have been fetching 11k at euros. They were 7.5k max in January.. Worth about 5.5-6 in dark times... x that by a few machines and dumpers etc ...... was for a for a rainy day imo, not many have done so.
By those figures however, anyone who has sold all their old junk recently and only got 0% finance over five years in new machines should be ok?

Asking for a friend 😂

seriously though, I’ve been looking at stuff recently thinking it’s well overpriced so I’m glad it’s not just me. However if 7.5k is normal 5.5k is dark times then it’s not a terrible drop as it should be temporary. Safer than bitcoin at least.

My take on it is that the 2nd hand market is being held up by lack of supply of new machinery.
Pretty sure that the economy is going to be rough next year. How rough we have yet to see!!

I’ve been looking for a mini skid loader for a while, but when a dogged opico (mid 90s) with only an auger attachment and a leaky ram (and god knows what else wrong) goes for £4500, something is wrong! It’s just a 13hp powerpack with wheels and a bit of metal at the end of the day.
All I’ve done with the bbl is get rid of finance at a higher rate including the overdraft, buy that bargain forklift (at ‘dark times’ money, 4.5k plus vat for 2011 Hyundai 1.8t diesel with 500 hours) and a new Ifor Williams trailer.
Shaun is right, the second hand market is being propped up, manufacturers aren’t putting prices up much with the ridiculous lead times they are having to quote.

Lot of sense here👏👍👍
S'hand machines is just bonkers . I know a lad who bought a tak for a home build, used it ..then sold it this week and made good 💰..and don't even speak to me about skid loaders...just simply insane.
This can't carry on?
Am I the only one thinking the time is ripe for a decent Chink manufacturer to come in hard now?🙄

All down to the tax system at the end of the day machinery prices and also ease of finance. You might think a cheaper manufacturer could come in but at the end of the day with all the overheads involved in running a business could you afford to take the chance in something which might let you down in the middle of a job.
Always puzzles me as to how most component parts of machines are made in China etc yet they can't quite get their copys right. Won't be long perhaps, they must be able to put a fair chunk of a jcb together by now 😄

There's been an awful lot of inflation in business items recently. I'd say 20% minimum, how much is down to supply issues who know? Things catch my eye, like saw blades that are £12 rather than £10, or a Chinky mini dumper which is now £1500 for the basic one rather than £1200

the thing i see is people are doing 11k for a normal 7.5k and 6k in dark times. They are 5k out, all hypothetical as its not happened yet

County borough of Caerphilly's on lock down this week and Merthyr is almost certain to get locked down very soon .. probably Monday ... huge rises in infection rates in both ... policing either would need to be a military operation ... they just don't give a flying **** in those areas ... we're fireproof attitudes :mad::mad:
Best thing for merthyr ,should be permanant

I'm reading churchill atm and we were quite willing in those days to sacrifice a certain number of lives to achieve An objective.
This saving all lives at any costs mentality is a joke. It is intertwined with this modern health and safety, blame claim culture.
Imagine the hero's who dealt with the unexploded bombs being allowed in these times. Can't even visit a dentist nowadays
