The italians are showing such heavy mortality figures (IMHDO) for the same reasons the Chinese are .. extended, multi generational families - often 4 generations - and who're the most susceptible .. the oldest generations. Italy has some of the oldest generational populations in Europe ... and lots of 'em

as said elsewhere ..... the greatest threat to us all ATM is the bloody media causing widespread unrest/uncertainty/(I hesitate to use the word) panic - but it's not far off it !!
the supermarket scenes on the TV news this evening are appalling ... and showing them is going to do nothing to reduce/stop it ... these idiots who're emptying the shelves currently'll have run out of space/cash shortly and things'll return to a more normal situation ... once the supply chain does its job
