does not seem to bad in dorset at this time but there are lots of second homes in my hometown with owners from that big place to the east, i am hoping they dont bring unwanted baggage with them. shops are desperate here, morons queing for an hour before shops open then its as if a flock of locusts have raided the shops. unbelievable really

Yep take care cos as you say next problem will be low life taking advantage - we still have the right to work at the moment (if you are working alone) so I have a move for the 8t in the morning to an out of the way spot to dig out round a barn renovation and it can stop there out of the way when thats done - then going to bring lasers etc and the mini diggers home from the yard where I can keep my eye on them.
To get stuff nicked amidst all this would be the spectacularly s**t.

EDIT: We have quite strict enforcement by the Gendarmes you have to have a form with you outlining your reasons for travelling 375€ fine is they dont consider it legit

I stayed over in a Premier Inn last night at the Trafford centre, Manchester. It is mainly frequented by people going to events there, so those bookings had all cancelled, but business booking were still holding up so they guy on reception was saying. Bit weird in the bar and restaurant as normally they are packed with both residents and locals and there were just a few dozen middle aged to old blokes who were working away from home. The general consensus was if they were still open we would keep coming. Hope they will stay open as although I'm commuting next week, the week after I'm supposed to be away 4 nights.

Its worrying though. I have had to lock up my 85 year old Grandad today. We had to pull his mrs who is 50 (lucky fella hey) from her job (nursery teacher) she didn't want to as they cant afford it , but as a family we are going to make up the shortfall.. I then drove around for 2 hours trying to find him paracetamol which he takes for ongoing pains and groans without any luck. 12 weeks hes supposed to be in the house / garden. Mentally that's a very long time

That I would agree, but there is a reason that Europe is grinding to a halt. It would “appear” that this is worse than what the Chinese may have lead everyone to believe. Look what is happening by governments worldwide. Borders closing, mass money printing, movement restrictions. Do you think we are aware of all the facts?
I suspect that there is an underlying concern that the virus is far more widespread than they realised with people able to carry this without any symptoms. Only becomes clear when the “at risk” start dropping dead with it!!

My parents have started self isolating. Both in their 80’s and father has “serious underlying conditions” as they say. Trouble is I can’t see them keeping isolated for 3 months. My father is normally out and about every day and has never used a computer in his life, so will be suffering after a few days. I can’t think it will be good for him mentally even if he survives physically.

Well my 80 + year old engineer who has leukaemia has decided to self isolate in my workshop simple enough, i'm not going in there and I have barred anyone else from going in there either! Provided no one contaminates it he should be safe enough and is mentally far far happier for it.

Pub is outside eating only, so we are busy supporting them too..... Might take a enclosed skip sat night for a laugh with a table and chairs inside it


Paracetamol and Toilet Paper is non existent.... I'm off to get some Hydro chloride tomorrow to disinfect skips/rubble we collect from places.

still dont know anyone who has it yet locally. all the pubs are still open locally.

local hospital 5 miles away has 5 in a private ward that has been commandeered for an isolation unit ... no idea if they're local or not - I sort of hope they are and not 'brought in' ..... it's still local nursing staff, etc. dealing with them though

as for the pubs ... anyone frequenting them is running their own risk .. they've been asked to stop at home ... they're going to have to when they get shut down ... can't see it being long
best news today is they're about ready to be able to test to see if you've had it and recovered ...... think they may be surprised by how many have

Our 7.5 ton horse box was due for its plating on Friday the test station called today and said all tests are cancelled for the moment apparently they are probably going to put an extension onto existing platings for 3 months but it has not yet been confirmed. I would like to know what happens if you have an accident in that extension period, will insurance companies try and wiggle out of paying out?

as you are supposed to present the vehicle at test, fit to pass, it should well have been fit for a test, especially as your date is so close ... any deterioration after that would have been normal any way .. plus it's an official extension ... not like you've deliberately not presented for test, which'd leave you uninsured anyway ... to be insured the vehicle has to possess a current MOT cert.
