How do you find your 8026? Would like to back British but have had bad experiences with an 8035zts and its putting us off
The previous generation JCB mini range didn't get a great reputation, the JCB 8026 however, is a standout machine and JCB themselves have said that it was designed from the tracks up as a very different machine to the rest of the 802/803 range. I really would give one a look over.
My life with it over 6 years and 3000hrs is pretty much documented in my video about it (another shameless plug for my YouTube channel)

As I said, its a bit dated in the cab, and is due a refresh in the next couple of years. If the rumours are true, there is a new generation 8035 replacement out soon that could be very tasty in terms of spec and performance. And I believe the 8026 is next in line for the revamp. Hard to design these 2.7t machines as weight is almost more important than every other factor to keep it legal for towing. The 8026 prioritises performance and is right up there weight wise as a result. The Kubota KX27 is a good 150kg lighter which no doubt reduces its performance but does give you more wiggle room for buckets on the trailer. You have to decide what your priorities are really.

14000hrs on the EX30 is a real testament to that machines longevity. On a mini, that's major hrs and I am impressed. Its a shame Hitachi's 27U shares none of the things that made the EX30 such a nice machine to drive!

At the minute we are thinking of going new, second hand prices are through the roof and by time you consider warranty and finance packages it could be as cheap going new
in my experience second hand price I was offered for my 3 year old volvo against a new one was quite frankly taking the piss by the dealer.my machine is mint,600 hours and offered pretty much half price for it.did email another dealer a week ago but heard nothing.my local John Deere dealer has a couple of u27s with 1500/2000 hours and hardly tidy and they want 3grand less than a new one would be

I would sell it privately but it’s finding someone who wants one.stuck it on here thinking someone may be interested.where else do people advertise.facebook is a waste of time And any prospective buyer offers cash to loose the vat which I can’t do.

As gunners said, I’ve an 8026, its not blingy or fancy but start it in a mornin, drive the arse off it all day and I’ve not had a spot of bother. It does what it’s says on the tin.
got on a mates kx71 for ten minutes last week, sorry you can keep them, I’m not for a second saying they ain’t well built, and I’ve had 3 kubotas, but christ I found it horrible to drive, the jcb is smoother and more comfortable to sit in.

the above of course is only the opinion of a half-wit, inbred, farmer f**k type and is worth exactly what you paid for it.

truth of the matter as far as concerned is theres no bad machines at the minute, try and get a few hours on each one and pick which one you like best. Always keep in mind which dealers you’ve got too, even if just for filters good dealers make the job far easier. That’s my only gripe with jcb, luckily I’ve relationships with a few independents that can get parts for anything

I have had a KX71 for a while now and after some initial issues (from poor maintenance) the strange thing is im actually beginning to think its half decent 🤔 initially I hated the savage tracking and found it noisy in the hydraulics, but dont really hear it now and my feet have adjusted to the tracking pedals.... im sure a lot of this preference stems from familiarity and the fact if something keeps starting ever morning you go to it and making you money then you start to like it 🤷‍♂️

first class video Ollie .... very interesting , concise and visually informative:love: ....... it looks a hell of a smooth drive and I can understand exactly why you love it ...... would love to give it a try and see if it's you, the machine, the Idig (which was very interesting to watch in operation ) a combination of some or all of these and whether that level of smooth is 'easily' achievable or needs a LOT of seat time to get that silky
great post Boyo (y)

Thanks Druid. You are of course welcome to swing by if you are ever around the Costa del Hampshire and try the machine, or one of the many local pubs.... Your choice!

I've spent quite a bit of time in the KX71, and thought they were a good machine. The cab entry is a bit cramped - especially compared to modern day cabs but they are outdated when compared against the latest machines and finding a good used one will be quite hard now I would think. And as @Thomas7740 is looking to go new, the KX71 is relegated to the rose tinted cabinet - along with the EX30, 803 Super and now the KX71.
Come to think of it, I think the Yanmar BV25 should be in there too. Great machine in their day. BUT OLD NOW MOVE ON YOU OLD FARTS!

Thanks Ollie ..... it'd be the JakieB ... I don't imbibe any more ;):giggle: ....... if we're ever allowed to 'roam abroad' ever again  ....
I'm (recommended to be) grounded 'til 31st March again, according to the letter that arrived this week :(

interesting commentary about the dead man solenoid on the servo valve .... can understand why they're such a ba****d to get at on a little un ....
also made me consider taking a gander at mine, next time I have it running .... have had a couple of coils give up on me since I've had her and that one in particular is virtually constantly energised (and getting hot) ......
would be a total bitch to access cross chassis over the right - under the cab floor and underneath is the only access ... you'd wanna be 'Twiggy' to get at it in that position .... might just put my new spare on and keep what comes off as a 'spare' ... they're all the same coils under there ...... and quite a few of 'em

now let's go take at a look at the rest of your video offerings :giggle:

Style - cab layout - or is the business end better too ?

Good video Ollie, thanks for sharing. 8026 looks like a good machine, but lack of left boom swing is a massive let down, 45 degrees isn't much, nearly 90 degrees on the ex30, helps make them so much more manoeuvrable in a tight spot.

If you didn't go for the 8026, what was next option? Have you any plans for replacing it?

What are opinions on case minis, like the cx26c? I know it's a zero swinger but dealer isn't far away and is a good dealer so maybe worth a shot?

When you say 2.5 to 3 ton class which do you want. Kubota kx03-4 taki 230 and i would suspect 8026 when specced up with longer dipper for example are all up at the 3 ton end or v close. Jcb the nearest to keeping legal for 3.5 ton towing if that's important. The others mentioned are imho a level below these 3.
