I’ve got the Ics 695gs saw 16/18” bar

Chains and bars are about £350 a go you might if lucky get 2 wall cut outs out of one.

They stretch like feck, the bars warp and generally bit of a faff.

But for sheer depth of cut you can’t beat them unless you get a £7k hilti 600mm wall saw on a track

We developed over the jobs we used it on and now have a 10mm special stihl saw blade to pre cut the line as the chainsaw loves to wander

They require 1.5 bar water so needs to be mains or serious pump no suppression bottle bottle

They make a lot of mess and you get soaked and claw hands after 2/3 hours cutting but done some jobs just wouldn’t have been able to do without it.

I’d like a hydraulic one as the fumes with 50:1 saw have been issue sometimes and the wall mount Ics do also be handy.

Not used it for few years mine since being away from factory but wouldn’t part with it, sure the newer stihl ones etc have got better

Great for things like this opening up old man hole in 1 hit no mess in active 300mm culvert and no one in to clean up

Cut these windows out in 3 brick thick engineers otherwise been a bugger smashing they out, took few mins just to push them out, lintels above then windows in job done,

Builder doing my extension had one of the evolution electric disk cutters, I seem to remember it went slightly deeper than a normal ts420 when cutting into walls.

I helped develope that with evolution in Sheffield 2 years of meetings and testing etc they’ve given me the 110v but is 32amp version sat in my barn in box, does cut 115mm though

We use stihl ts420 with 14” blade mainly now on site just that bit more for kerbs etc or we do have a k1250 16” one

Anyone ever used a Ts800? Ive got some 9inch walls to cut

We’ve the k1260 partner version with 16” blade it’s like holding a scooter up, I’m 20 odd stone 6’ bloke can deadlift 350kg but Christ you know when you’ve been using the 16” saws when you rev the interia of the blade moves it around in the air haha.

I can neither confirm nor deny that if you cut the 32amp plug off and fit a 16amp plug it will still work

Another little win for saw 1 day to do this job so just cut floor out no breaking resin anchor out it came x 2, turntables for spools of wire. We put all production line in for drawing wire and making springs

So I’d summarise it stihl saw you grab it mark line of wall start it pump your bottle and go

Concrete chainsaw you are messing with tension every 30 mins of cutting as it’ll have stretched, your in full wet weather suit as basically spraying a hose of brick water at you
Youv e had to pre cut with stihl saw with £280 10mm pre blade then you need to clean up lake of dirty water etc but we worked out being able to just then push wall over and forklift 1m ish solid sections of wall out was so much quicker than breaking in out after stihl saw cutting. Especially in old factory situations where they built the walls to last

No you need saw with 14" guard.

We've just got a stihl saw with 14" guard. The machine still has same engine as the 12" saw so no more power

I need to look at what the qs has allowed for as got x2/3 openings to open for French doors .

So either buy a ts800 second hand and have a crack at it ourselves and then we've got it for life or get a specialist in and still make a little on top

that's a neat way of creating a heavy load turn table with roller balls

Husqvarna you can either buy the k770 with 300 or 350mm blade (has plenty power for the bigger blade) or buy the k970 with 350 or 400mm blade. The 970 has more power but comes at expense of a lot of extra££££ and weight. One thing with bigger bladed saws its worth buying better quality and obvs dearer blades as cheaper blades tend to be heavier and make the saw badly balanced and make the inertia effect @Giles mentions worse.

Ts420 is 14” ts410 is 12”

I get all my blades from pulvex, £90 for 14” diamond blade

Hilti Do a lovely 16” saw and it even has a suction pump so will draw from ibc etc
