I would guess they already have something, but if an adaptation would make it easier to gauge the makeup of a satellite photo of troop buildups etc… these satellites as you know @tedsecretsource fly over every x hours and a readout of exactly what vehicles the enemy has deployed and where would be very useful. You may even be able to adapt it to specific vehicles with damage etc to track individuals.

Actually, one of my coworkers' partner suggested making a system for recognizing types of rifles, machine guns, and pistols (she worked in law enforcement) and that's not out of the question but a whole new project. The same is true for recognizing most military vehicles. Given the situation in the world right now, you can bet that's already crossed my mind but I honestly have to believe that such a system already exists and is already in use (but perhaps I give our modern militaries too much credit?)

when I worked for sun micorsystem in Munich in 2002 we were installing huge servers under a mountain in Austria to analyse satellite images to locate and count vehicles and planes.

You might be a bit late on this idea already. I understand that the relevant people not count up looking through a magnifying glass!!! I am not far from Cheltenham if you understand what I am saying!!

A lot of us would be more comfortable with artificial intelligence if we thought that it could be of help to us.
In this country the ability to monitor existing traffic cameras and recognise passing vehicles and identify weights and dimensions would be used to issue revenue raising fines for very minor infringements.
If the same system was used to spot suspicious movements of our vehicles when we thought they were locked up then we'd be far less sceptical
