Grenadier has to win this contract surely. Its literally a replacement for the old Defender! Half the ECU's the new Defender has. And made like a tank.
Also they have a proper pickup chassis already.
The UK made argument is as ruined as JLR's - both cars made in Europe with HQ in the UK.

Agreed. My money would be on grenadier...but I imagine JLR has a bigger clout with no10.

There are several other horses in the race remember.
I think the pickup based things are probably a bit big. The 6wd ranger is cool but can't see it being much use if the next big kick off is Europe. Probably great if we go back to the desert.
The babcock landcruiser must be up there as I would think they could beat the grenadier on production rates

There is the g wagon aswell from reinmetal. But not sure how soft the genuine military grade g wagon is.
I think the rest of Europe still get a commercial version so might be good

New motors are just to high tech, the army needs stuff that's stripped of all the emissions. Cost should be the main factor with cheap, readily available spares but suppose it comes down to the biggest brown envelope.
According to Google the new wolf is stripped back of emissions stuff and sensors
New l200 looks ok just had a look at the brochure not too keen on the looks but at least this time round it can actually tow 3.5t without it's being limited to a tri axle trailer and less weight with twin or single. Only two trims but the barbarian gets a proper full time capable 4x4 system making it the only "ice" pickup on the market that has it (new ranger says it is but it's marketing bs as it still doesn't have a centre diff so reverts to 2wd after 40mph and on full lock at low speeds and multiple other times) Useful stuff like blind spot assist and most other features except hill decent are standard on both models.
Funnily enough was chatting about pickups with a guy on site today and he bought a defender 90 hardtop with 30k on the clock has done 60k trouble free miles and it's literally dropped 2-3k in value in the last 3 or 4 years and does high 30's mpg
